I don't see any problems with the turkey interview. While Palin is often bad (or lacking) on substance, she definitely has a great charm, and at least during the initial pardoning of the turkey was just the kind of awesome charisma that she showed at the convention.

As for the turkey killing in the background... oh please. One more tempest in a teapot.

As for Obama's cabinet so far...

God, how could anyone forget he ran twice.
But just because I didn't vote for Gore doesn't mean I supported Bush. It was one of those lesser of two evils. I supported a few of Bush's policies but not many.
But I though Gore was a loon. (still not unconvinced)
Heck I voted for Bill on his second term. Not because I supported him, but because I liked his policies slightly better.

I can only remember voting non-repug for pres a couple of times, so not voting for Bush should be really telling of where my support for him was.

The choices in American politics are few, not black and white like keep inferring.

Again, you guys won. Good luck, Don't be such lousy winners, geeze.

Did you realize the context of the interview was that she had gone there to do the annual "Governor pardons a turkey" thing?

It's that juxtaposition that makes it hilarious.

In fact, this election the choice was exactly black and white

              *shrug*

It is a turkey farm less than a week before Thanksgiving. Obviously there are a lot more turkeys there than the one she pardoned. Probably not the best choice for her to pick as a backdrop, but not all that hilarious.

Though I did get a chuckle when the reporter asked her about "programs on the chopping block".

But I also know he won't be able to deliver on many of his policy promises. There are plenty of realist liberals who support Obama but are not starry-eyed. I'm optimistic in that Obama will be able to implement some of his policy proposals. I'm realistic to know that he will not change politics as usual in Washington and that some policy promises will have to shoved aside.

But given how arrogant you are on your pedestal you may not have realized that not all liberals think alike.

I like hearing more realistic expectation.

Considering the job function of the CoS, I don't see why picking a longtime trusted friend who also happens to be a reknowned ****-kicker is in anyway problematic for Obama's stated desires to bring change to Washington.

Really, people are reading entirely too much into these first few adminstration selections. Everyone thought Bush picking Powell for SoS meant he'd have a pragmatic, moderate foreign policy. And we saw how well that turned out.

All Obama is doing is recycling the Clinton years.

You can't totally say that. He's actually giving Hillary a position of power. Bill never did that.

I wouldn't mind a return to the Clinton years. The biggest trouble with the Clinton years was... Clinton. So all else being equal, having Obama on top will certainly be a step up.

So what would? Having 100% neophytes on his team?

I don't think you understand what he meant by change. It was about a change in policies and direction, and that is not remotely incompatible with having people with longtime Washington experience as part of his administration.

                                @ Rah:

Are you kidding? Heh...one of the funniest quotes from that administration was Hillary saying "WE are the president!"
