How far will Prop 8 supporters set back gay marriage?
Why don't you present your arguments for why polygamous marriages should not be legalized?
It's not hard to come up with arguments. You can use all the arguments made in favor of gay marriage, plus some others. Polygamy might actually provide a benefit to society (by increasing birth rates), unlike gay marriage.
Because I still refuse to believe you have a compassionate, sincere concern for Mormons in this regard.
Of course I feel concern for them. What kind of person wouldn't feel compassion for consenting adults who have to hide their love for each other for fear of being charged with a crime by the government?
I've seen you in other threads consistently arguing AGAINST equal marriage protection for gays and lesbians. So do NOT go on about how awful it is for people to hide their love.
Lying is a BAD characteristic to have.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

I've pretty clearly stated that I don't care either way about gay marriage. I only care that the decision is made through democratic processes, not imposed by the courts.

It is awful. You just don't understand what it's like to be a polygamist. Gays can be open about their relationships and don't have to worry about being charged with a crime for their love like polygamists do. You're extremely lucky.

You take the criteria requiring democratic process to an unreasonable extreme. To the point that you believe it's acceptable to deprive people of their civil rights if the majority wishes to do so. Which is an overly-simplistic viewpoint of the democratic process; you do not see any potential harm that can come from mob rule.
What would have happened if the court ruling on interracial marriage in 1950s was put up to popular vote? Or, where would we be today in regard to desegregation had we waited until the majority supported desegregation? There are shades of gray where democratic process can be dangerous. But you're simple-mindedness only sees black and white.

I'm not the one who selfishly supports marriage rights for his own minority group while denying them to equally deserving minority groups. You're nothing but a shameless hypocrite.
