    • Woodside is 25 minutes from Times Square on the 7.
Just checked HopStop. Would take me one hour on the dot to get to Woodside. **** off.

      • Only a spoiled white kid unable to get out of downtown Manhattan would complain like that. Face it Drake, you are what you bemoan. Real New Yorkers know that there is a lot more to this City that what falls between 86th Street and the Battery.

Yes, I'm certainly living it up in downtown NYC...

Just tried that site, put in what used to be my daily communte for over a year. It gave me a longer route than I used... shocking.

But for an out of towner like yourself, I am sure things would be more difficult.

            • It gave me the right route to Times Square. Don't know if it was correct after that, but it used the 7 like you said to.

The difficulty is getting crosstown north of 59th, since New York is too stupid to build a subway system with enough crosstown lines.

Depending where you live, there are several different transfer points for the 7, not just Times Square. And during evening rush hours there are 7 Express trains, so the trip is shorter.

Central Park predates the subway by decades, and it was built on filled in swampland. Not the best land to build a subway's through.

Besides, there are plenty of bars north of 59th Street, east or west.

                  • #20 - The NY subway system is centered on lower and midtown Manhattan to a ridiculous extent. It doesn't have a ring line like any sensible subway system, so travel between the outer boroughs is much harder than it has to be. And let's not even get into the ****ty connections with Jersey.

No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

                      • The Astoria Beer Garden is admittedly cool, but it's always packed with a huge line out front because it's the only cool bar left in the City.

                          • I'd buy you a drink, but they closed down my favorite bar. I'd have to go all the way to Chambers Street to get you drunk in a ****hole honky-tonk bar now.

                              As this list shows,

The NYC subway carries twice as many people per day as the next 15 busiest commuter rail systems in the US combined (and two of those are also in the NYC area)
