Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
Not only are De La Rocha's lyrics a tad more intellectual and fact-related critique than Green Day's littany of trite platitudes like in the post above, but more importantly Morello's riffs actually show some complexity and innovation that leaves Green Day's repetitive pop-punk power-chord horse-**** in the dust any day of the week.
I seriously can't believe this is even in dispute
If saying "**** you" over and over again constitutes an intellectual critique, the smartest community online probably consists largely of XBox-playing thirteen-year-olds.
Can't say anything about the riffs, knowing nothing of music, but I must say that Green Day tunes are at least initially catchy in a good way, whereas RATM "songs" are only ever obnoxious ear-worms, which wriggle their way into your head and refuse to leave. Of course, the only two I even remember are the ones Kid posted (my brother went through a RATM phase in his teens...thank goodness that was well after my 'I-like-everything-big-brother-likes' phase, the shame of listening to Nirvana is enough).

I only posted those because it was more appropriate than others.
Try this one. Tell me if there are any better Green Day lyrics.
WITHOUT A FACE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Uh! Got no card so I got not soul
Life is prison, no parole, no control
Tha jura got my number on a wire tap
'Cause I jack for similac, **** a cadillac
Survive one motive no hope
'Cause every sidewalk I walk is like a tightrope
Yes I know my deadline sire, when my life expires
I'm sendin' paper south under tha barbed wire
Tha mother of my child will lose her mind at my grave
It's my life for their life so call it a free trade
"Por vida" and our name up on tha stall
I took a death trip when I tried ta cross tha white wall
Walk unseen past tha graves an tha gates, born without a face
One motive no hope ah, born without a face
Walk unseen past tha graves an tha gates, born without a face
One motive no hope ah, yeah, born without a face
Without a face
Yeah, I tried ta look back ta my past long lost
A blood donor ta tha land owner holocaust
Pops heart stopped, in came tha air drop
Flooded tha trench he couldn't shake tha toxic shock
Maize was all we needed ta sustain
Now her golden skin burns, insecticide rain
Ya down wit DDT yeah you know me
Raped for tha grapes, profit for tha bourgeois
War tape boomin' path is Luminoso
I'm headed north like my name was kid Cisco
To survive one motive no hope, ah
It's hard ta breathe wit Wilson's head around my throat
Strangled and mangled another SS curtain call
When I tried ta cross tha white wall
When I tried ta cross tha white walls
Walk unseen past tha graves an tha gates, born without a face
One motive no hope ah, born without a face
Walk unseen past tha graves an tha gates, born without a face
One motive no hope ah, born without a face

No, their lyrics are equally stupid, albeit GD gets points for not having the white-boys-rapping factor. But the tunes are actually catchy and don't make you want to pimp-smack the lead singer unless you're at least leaning conservative. I just roll my eyes at their worst excesses. They're ignorably stupid. You wouldn't understand, being in your own universe and all that, but when music artists reference DDT in one line and the "bourgeois" in the next, it overloads my douche-o-meter.
Also, the two RATM tunes I remember were infuriatingly jerky, with a heavy stressed-unstressed alternation suggestive of a skipping record, and I can well imagine the aural gangbanging that accompanied what you just posted.

Oh, I get it. The connections are too complicated for you to appreciate.

Who knew that there is a culture of war, that war is also a social psychological phenomena and that there were often non-utilitarian wars?
Oh wait... I guess anyone that has ever opened a book about war knew that.
Infact, I have yet to read a book talking about war, strategy and so forth, all written by generals, that hasn't discussed these exact points.
You condescend and assume that everyone who disagrees with you must be blind to what ever other point of view you have. That's not true. Everyone who has ever studied about war, know the ritualistic and social culture surrounding it.
It's just that, we don't let this point blind us to the fact that sometimes war serves a very good purpose of defending one's territory or interests, or allies.

You are blinded though. In this thread you have shown yourself to think in such black and white terms that you can't even understand your opponents argument. Slowwhand is so blind that he will do whatever his commander tells him to do no matter what that is without thinking at all. He also thinks that he's fighting for everyones rights, even those who his government is hostile towards. Grandpa Troll will kill anyone who abandons their post and that there is no harm that you can do to a recruit that is unfair. He also likes to flash pictures of himself with his weapons as though that will win arguments for him and convince people that they should fight in war. And Tubes has just shamed himself completely like I've never seen him do before.
So, you can say you aren't blinded, but that's not what all of you have shown here in this thread.

Actually kill someone is justified while leaving a post during wartime military operations. I didnt write it, simply support it is what I do. As for harm I did not say any harm but certainly recruits shouldnt be coddled, since a very harsh reality awaits them far removed from the cushiness of recruit training. as for flashing pictures, I am proud to have served my country as a military veteran. see, i aint got no suck-@$$ song lyrics like you to show patriotism in a non violent way

I object to your argument, think it is simplistic, deluded an misguided.
Throwing down one's weapons and hoping the other side will follow, is not a choice in most cases.
I clearly asked you to make a choise.
You clearly said that you refuse to help stopping a holocaust (be it of jews, of tutsi or of sudanese), because it might coincidentally strengthen the government of your country, whose views you object.
This paints you in awful colors as to your moral nature (on which you said: you have no morality) and also shows that you think with the capacity of a 6 year old. It's "you" vs. "them".
You say that you would have been proud to refuse war against Nazi germany, because it might strengthen the US, and then you try and say that I see thing in black and white? Are you really that self-unaware and silly?
