I always stop into an EB games when I'm in the mall just to ask them when Duck Hunt comes out, then act all depressed and say "I've been waiting for ages!" then leave... no matter what they tell me.

So I guess when Wii Duck Hunt comes out (a few weeks after Duke Nukem Forever, I think) you'll have to change your question?

Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Yes, every time I buy a game from gamestop (eb games) they push buying a protection plan, signing up for their membership program, and reserving future games. They once told me that Mass Effect would probably be sold out for 2 months, so I should reserve a copy .

EB Games/Gamestop does indeed have protection plans in the U.S. for games, as does Best Buy. But how does this surprise anyone? The only way to make money in retail, as an employee, is to rip people off. edit2: This is what makes your thread title incorrect. They don't hire only douchebags, it's just that only douchebags can meet management directives, and so all the non-douchebags either quit or get fired.

edit: Asher, I expect more of you. Just asked to leave the store? I would've gotten the cops called on me before I was done.

Protection plans on games?! That's ridiculous...if I tried to return or exchange a defective item then I would expect full acknowledgement. If I got that load of crap I'd be very annoyed and would write a formal letter of complaint. I do hope you are going to do likewise Asher - these dodgy corporate antics should be stopped.

If they had tried it on me, personally, I'd definitely make a bigger stink about it.

Well, the protection plans aren't meant to cover the standard warranty period, although they may be sold that way. They are meant to cover after the 60/90 day manufacturer's warranty. Still a rip off and all, but you don't have to buy one to exchange something that's defective shortly after purchase.

As for complaining: Won't do any long term good. Providing good customer service costs money. Most consumers won't pay more for it, at least for most goods, and corporations certainly aren't going to eat into their bottom line to provide it. And the workers are already as ****ed as they can get.
