Short flights are pretty cool IMO. Because you can appreciate the time you save versus train/car/bus/etc. Usually on time, it's just comfortable.
But these things.. it's more like a rule than not. And not just that, but sitting on a plane too long really isn't my cup of tea, or hanging out on the airports. Short flights are cool though, I'm taking one this weekend. Everything over 3 hours on a plane is a pain in the ass for me.
I appreciate the time saved versus train/car/bus even more on long flights. In fact, I've taken some short flights where driving probably would have been just as fast, if you include the time to drive to and from the airport (for example Montreal-Ottawa.)
Sure, it's a pain to do London-New Delhi by plane but it sure beats the bus, and don't get me started on London-Ottawa...

I had an interview (actually a series of interviews) with Palm today. Those went great. What I need to complain about is the flight.
I was supposed to flight out of Pittsburgh through Denver to San Jose at 8AM EST Monday. I had a 2.5-hour layover in Denver, which is sweet because Denver is a kickass airport. I was going to get into San Jose at 2PM Pacific, go to my hotel, then go hang out with friends at Stanford for the afternoon.
Instead, the flight was overbooked and something happened to the plane, so they had to use a smaller one and I got booted off the flight. My new flight left at noon, had a 2.5-hour layover in O'Hare. Eh, whatever.
Then my flight out of Chicago is delayed 2 hours. I finally check into my hotel at 9PM Pacific and spend about an hour and a half at Stanford. Alright. Monday was lame but I still got to see my friends.
Except I forgot how ****ty the next day was going to be. My interview ends at 1PM, I take a cab and get to the airport an hour later. Guess when my flight leaves? TEN PM. And it's through Dulles. I don't leave DC until 8:40AM EST tomorrow. Optimistically I'll leave the Pittsburgh airport at 10AM. Six hours later I get to make up the real analysis exam I missed Monday.

Meh.
I've been stuck at LaGuardia many times...friday night flights scheduled for ~7pm back to Toronto, then a slight gust of wind comes and half of the flights are delayed and the others are cancelled. And if you think a delay/cancellation/layover is bad, wait until you have it at LaGuardia. There's no room to breathe. The person:seat ratio is about 10:1 and it starts to feel very claustrophobic, and everyone is very cranky.
On the plus side, that's how I met Romeo Dallaire.
My flight back tomorrow night is scheduled at 9pm, but I'm not optimisitc...

The NYC-Toronto flight is 1hour in the air, about 1h30m gate to gate.
I literally spend more time waiting my luggage and waiting in one of the obscene taxi lines at LaGuardia or Newark. It is really absurd.

I also have a Virginia driver's license, am officially a Virginia resident and am registered to vote in Virginia. So yeah.
Redneck.
