In 2012 the magnetic north will be reversed into a magnetic south, causing widespread disaster such as floodings, quakes and your old fashioned tsunamis.
However, there is a way to prevent our species from being wiped out! There was once an advanced civilisation with extensive knowledge of astronomy. A lot more than the knowledge we possess right now. You could call it Atlantis, but after the last ice age they disappeared and all their traces have been lost. A few survivors passed on their knowledge to the ancient Egyptians and the Mayans. The Egyptians stored this knowledge in the mythical labyrinth at Hawara, but it hasn't been found up to this day.
Belgian "researchers" (in fact an artist together with an 'independent' researcher) have unveiled the true location near Amenemhat III's pyramid, at a location Flinders Petrie investigated back in the days. He supposedly missed it and didn't dig deep enough. In the fabled labyrinth we would be able to find the knowledge necessary to survive the polar reversal of 2012.
These guys really mean this crazy ****. More importantly they have gotten wide media attention, although a few young archeologists including me tried to refute their unscientific claims. I actually went to talk with the artist (Louis De Cordier) and the 'researcher (Patrick Geryl) last thursday, and my espionage yielded a lot of useful information
