I am black and I want to vote for Obama because he is black.
Is this also racist or a double standard?
    Forget about racism and/or sexism

You should vote for the person whom you believe will be best for you and/or the country and/or the world.

    All else is stupity.

I've used this example to explain this crisis and the government bailouts to the family...

Imagine that the US economy is an old bald tire with patches here there and everywhere. It is getting us down the road but is very scary. Then suddenly it has a major blowout. Well this latest patch is the biggest and messiest of them all. Maybe it will get us a few years down the road, but after that we'll have to get on down the road by ourselves, and we have to be ready.

Getting them to understand that the US is on shaky ground is a bit tough. They have great confidence that we know what we're doing, that's why Americans are so rich. I've shaken that belief as much as I can to achieve cooperation in making the spending decisions we need to make in order to be ready.

So Arrian, I think survival is a personal responsibility in a time when most people depend on the social framework of civilization. Alot of people with pensions just got a rude wake up call regarding depending upon the system. It's just the first wake up call.

A few years ago my father in law wanted to invest in a private pension plan in the Phils. He would pay every month until he got to a certain age, and then the plan called for him to get paid monthly until the end of his life. I told him that the first half of the plan was sound, that they would certainly take his money, but when it came time to get paid back they would take his money and go live on the beach in Thailand. For instance, if a right-wing black guy were in the race, I don't think you would see 95% of black americans voting for him.

Yep. How many votes did that Black Republican guy get in the primaries? He's positions were often more orthodozedly Republican then the other candidates yet he lost the primary. I'm sure race played at least some part in that equation.

Trust but verify is, of course, a contradiction. I always envision it said with a wink. In other words: screw trust. Watch 'em like a hawk.

Hardly anyone does, though, because we've got other things to do. Those who *do* watch the gummint constantly are often nuts. Cause/effect debateable.

Republicans would never be racist! I mean just because they distribute fliers with Obama's picture on a food stamp with him eating fried chicken, watermelon, and drinking kool aid that wouldn't mean they're racist, would it?

A campaign memo outlines the vice president's extensive battle plan.

Edit: this one shows ribs and I couldn't find a picture of the fried chicken one so it will have to do.

But Alan Keyes is ****ing crazy. I mean Steve Forbes is more orthodox Republican than a lot of candidates when he ran in 1996, but I doubt he went down in flames due to his race.

When the President of the organization which put that out saw it, she did a quick reversal. She explains it was just supposed to be a play off of Obama's statement that he doesn't look like other Presidents you see on out money.

If I don't vote for Obama because I see on a spectrum band that does not allow me to detect opaque colors, therefore I am unable to determine what he looks like... does that make me racist?
