  • Gold Bugs Unite

Well, I'd just like to say that while I've been happy buying gold (or as I like to put it, GOLD), I'm also continuing to buy gold at about 1-3 ounces a month.

I'm hoping that gold will eventually test 750 USD, in the next 2-3 months, while these dollar/inflated equity propping measures continue and people still continue to have faith in such measures. It's stubbornly keeping in the 820-50s for now, but I'm sure there will be a big buying op coming as central banks continue to dump gold at below market rates during after hours trading.

My plan is to 'take a look around' at 1000, possibly 1200, and decide whether or not to profit take then.

My worry is my lump of silver. It's not doing anything. It just sits there, refusing to increase in value/track inflation, despite the historical ratio of silver to gold.

How can I motivate my unruly silver brick?

Other question: WTF are stocks like AMEX: Seabridge so much underperforming my physical brick?? Surely a gold miner/explorer should at least somewhat track the price of gold...something smells fishy there.

One thing I'm happy about: Ben Bernanke. As long as Ben is there, I know he's looking out for my gold bricks best interest. He's like a cherubic uncle who comes and brings presents to all the little gold bug boys and girls.

Bigot. Gold bugs are no better than silver, black or any other.

I'd just like to mention that I have expanded my monthly gold buying to include silver, and even more gold.

I'm also seriously considering at least some Platinum while it remains below the cost of production.

I just hope the US doesn't stop printing money anytime soon.

          Gold! Gold! GOOOOLLLLLLDDD!!

I may buy gold juniors in a year, once the weak have died out and only the producing and cash-rich are left.

NOTE: My old lump o' silver is fluctuating a bit, but I don't expect any serious change until the giant money injections are working their way from banks to the larger economy, probably at least a year or maybe two before the inevitable.

EDIT: Feeling very GOOD about my decision to buy physical back then, especially when I'm in one of the few countries where I can get it without a big premium over the wonky paper stuff.

My uncle used to spend just about every vacation up in the California gold country with a dredging machine which automatically sifted out the gold. He said gold prices fell so low it wasn't worth it any more (and my aunt kept bugging him saying she wanted to do something different with their vacations). The mountains east of San Diego produced the second biggest gold deposits in California so if we have a wet winter I might just head up there with my uncle's gold dredging equipment to see what I can find. You never know there might still be gold in them there hills.

My friend Jason has been ranting about this for the last year but I just don't see how he'll make money buying US silver dollars for $20 each.

Man the Austrian Gold Philharmonic or the American Gold Eagle (both 1 troy OZ) are each going for just under $800 per coin. :\

Obviously you need to spend some of those gold coins on a guy in a super powered suit of armor to defend it.
