  • When they move in with no intention of ever paying their rent, that's extreme.

    • Yes, it is. The Texas law looks unkindly on such things.

Only if you consider merely missing a rent payment "extreme":

If a landlord or a landlord's agent changes the door lock of a tenant who is delinquent in paying rent, the landlord or agent must place a written notice on the tenant's front door stating the name and the address or telephone number of the individual or company from which a new key may be obtained. The new key is required to be provided only during the tenant's regular business hours and only if the tenant pays the delinquent rent.

As you said, Texas doesn't look kindly on such things.
          Unbelievable!

"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."--General Sir Charles James Napier

DD, learn from a Texan. We long ago learned that people have predispositions. We decided we don't care.
People use it against us, but guess what? Since we don't care, we don't care. People in Texas are no different from people anywhere. If people in Michingan were pre-judged, I'd bet they would come to the conclusion, that they don't care. They can think what they want, and respond in ignorance, ignorantly. We don't care, any more. All it does is strengthen our Texas vs. The World way of thinking.
I think you can understand why.
Hey, I might not agree with everything Texas does, or the way they do it, but I totally support their right to run their state the way they see fit. As long as it fits within the broad American Constitution.

People, especially foreigners, keep forgetting this is a nation of fifty states. Not a one nation-state. That is the reason they are called states and not provinces, or territories.

I look at Texas (or whatever particular state or law seems to be pissing people off at the time) as the bull's eye in the American dart board. Everyone come's from all around the world to throw darts, but that's because we are the only dartboard.

Foreigners not only debate, but seem obsessed with our elections, our culture and our day to day activities. I personally (and probably 99% of Americans) couldn't give a crap about another country's elections.

Europeans will call that attitude arrogance. Americans call it indifference or as a traditional American saying put it, "Mind Your Own Business"

This may be a bad analogy but it reminds of when two girls are out at the bar. One is pretty the other is less attractive but "thinks" she is smarter. She spends the entire evening supposedly having fun but all she is really doing is obsessing about her more beautiful friend.

              Obsessed less attractive girl:

"Did you see how she talked to those guys?"
"She was all over him, she's a slut"
"Look at how much she is drinking"
              "She dresses like a whore"

              Attractive Girl:

"What are you so upset about?"
"Why don't you lead you own life and leave me alone?"

Then the next day they makeup and it starts all over again.

Obviously, the American elections are one of the most important events for the rest of the world as well. The decisions of a president and congress often have a deep impact globally. You know that well enough, so why are you surprised foreigners are so interested in your elections?

                  No.

Also, if they were on their knees, then they must have been shot from above.
That's my point. I don't think they were on there knees, I think the original story is written poorly. I'll admit this point is up for debate though.

I find it difficult to believe that they would attempt to grab the gun while on their knees and facing away from the shooter.
Well, I wouldn't put anything past a teenager, but yeah. But I still doubt they ever actually went to their knees.
