The corner the Repugs have painted themselves is that Palin is one of the few candidates acceptable to the party's base. Can they bring in Romney or Guiliani now? No, the base would stay home, and in the run up to the next election, the party might even split.

McCain's got to stick with the hockey mom all the way to the finish line.

The only reason he's getting a pass from dems is because Palin is so much worse.
      I love this. When it's a democrat, experience=corruption. When it's a republican, experience=presidential material.

Anyway, I think Biden is a liability as well, but Palin pretty much overshadows it. Sometimes I wonder if the PTB who chose Palin for McCain were secretly in the Obama camp.

The same could have been said during the 2004 election. Oh, wait, military service only matters when that person is a Republican.

You know, I'm so sick of the "war hero" crap. Yes, he suffered horribly in Vietnam, and for that he is to be admired and should have the thanks of a grateful nation. But let's remember what made him a hero: he got shot down and captured. Would you mind explaining to me what part of being bested by, and then held hostage by, the enemy actually prepares you for being president? (Unless you're postulating that a McCain administration would be held hostage by huge Democratic majorities in Congress, which is plausible.) All McCain's heroism shows is that once upon a time his luck ran out, and he lived to tell the tale, albeit while probably developing seriously psychologically scars in the process. Yeah, it's a hell of a qualification.

Actually, I have a former military friend who won't vote for McCain because he was tortured in 'Nam. He says that he's never met anyone who wasn't ****ed up from the experience and sure as hell wouldn't put them in charge of a country.

Palin is now trying to blame "gotcha journalism" for her terrible interviews...

                                Ouch.

So you commit a major faux-pas, supporting your opponent's position, and not even via an actual question from a journalist. And you blame the outcome on "gotcha journalism"?

Incredible. She is such an embarrassment. And in this interview, he's not much better -- making excuses for his sadly desperate choice for VP.

I'm now considering watching the VP debate, just for the train-wreck fascination factor.
