        • It may be on for Thursday...From the GOP floor update list:

The Majority Leader has announced that the House is scheduled to meet at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2008. Members and staff are advised this is a change from the original House Calendar distributed earlier in the year.

According to the Majority Leader, whether the House will consider the Financial Stabilization Legislation on Thursday has yet to be determined. Stay tuned to future Floor Updates for more information.

              • Explain to me how it's accurate to portray this as purely a Democrat fiasco when more than two-third of Republicans voted against the bailout plan.

I find myself secretly the GOP also. I was and am a bit PO'ed that the dems went along with this bill so quickly and without much reservation. At least a fair number of them held out also.

                          • More proof that maybe the Dems didn't think today's vote through.

                            • I don't follow. It could be that they're moving on something else. For example, Plan B

                              Also from that blog, incidentally:
“To be honest, somebody finding out that Nancy Pelosi made a partisan speech? I’m shocked,” said Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), a lead opponent of the bailout package, who tells the Crypt that the idea that her speech shifted votes is “nonsense.”

To a Repug facing a tough re-election, who is thinking about bucking the will of his constiuants and voting for this very unpopular bill, her speech could have been the straw that broke the camel's back.
Bull****. It was going to fail no matter what. Anywhere there's a close race, Congressmen are going to vote against it. It is one of the most unpopular bills in our history, and rightly so. ****, if I was on the ballot instead of a write-in, I'd be using this everywhere I could to bash the Democrats. Wish I knew how Wasserman Schultz voted.
