What is an allied nation? Allied nations hang together in tough times so they don't hang alone. I can see McCain not meeting the Spanish government because they don't fit the criteria. Spain is an ally, a friendly nation and has done right by the U.S., McCain is a douchebag and if he had any class he would explain it was a mistake and apologize or admit ignorance and apologize. Either way, he owes Spain an apology. I've gotten gradually more upset over this, as the day has gone on. That is just messed up :/

Actually this doesn't surprise me that McCain holds a grudge against Spain. His childhood memories of the Spanish-American War and being a Rough Rider are still strong.

I can't belive USAians don't consider NATO members allies.

The Madrid attack only happened because of Spanish support of the US.

We Euros should start ignoring NATO and form our own alliance. I'm sure the French wouldn't mind feeling important for a change, I'll write a letter to my representative stressing why I think it is wital we kiss their and Germany's ass instead of the US's.
