Unclear. I guess it depends on how well he & McCain spin it.

Its a bit dangerous to attack McCain on these things through Bush, as Lehman (and others) is a heavy donator to both candidates.
Both Senators John McCain and Barack Obama have benefited from hefty contributions from the financial services sector that is in turmoil right now.
Further, oil has plummeted lately, that will likely have more of an effect on the general public, I'd guess.

The market was holding up very well into the afternoon. Until it crapped the bed.
Dow down 4.38%
S&P 500 down 4.61%
NASDAQ down 3.60%
Edit: And the ticker is still going down, 10 minutes after trading ended. Must have had quite a backlog.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Insurers and banks got slaughtered...

Like you, I have cash available that will allow me to buy in. Unlike you, I have little confidence in my ability to pick the right time to do so. Meanwhile, the money I already had in the market has taken an absolute beating. My consolation is that I have time to wait for it to come back up...

My best friend could easily have gotten caught up in this crap and lost his job (still could). I hope his company rides it out, as it has so far.

I'm still keeping my powder dry, but to be honest, I'm not looking for the lowest point to get in...
