That's worse? Don't you run for it (and drown tired, as you noted ), and then have the destruction hit while you are not there -- something to come home to?
Well, the last few to roll through SC (and Virginia when I was there) were really just prolonged thunderstorms. I wouldn't go walking around town but they weren't going to blow your house down either.

I live on the Pennisula in Charleston, so if anything above 2 hits I will evacuate to Atlanta or Charolette or Clemson (or sit at the base if by straw gets pulled).

If your town takes a CAT 4 direct hit, you'll get lots of time off. Only question will be if you get paid.
This is the US government we're talking here. It takes more than disasterous weather, like routine clerical laziness for instance, to stop DFAS.

Thats not Weather underground. Thats the NHC's plot. NHC is pretty spot on 5 days out, so take that as you will.

Gustav went right were the NHC said it would

Lucky che. The Euro track has it sailing between Cuba and the Florida tip.

Looks like it might hit anywhere between NOLA and the panhandle. I wonder what residents will think about having to evacuate a second time in such a short timespan.

Hopefully they are intelligent enough to the point they can weigh what the option is

It better not head to NOLA. After Nagin's vacuous call of "storm of the century" far less people would be prone to evacuate.

I really don't think NOLA residents will be stupid enough to wait out a powerful storm for at least another generation.
