Only a Russian would equate the experience of the Irish-American population with that of African-Americans. That's like saying Romas have been in the same boat with Kalmyks and Chechens, or Dagestanis with South Ossetians for that matter.

Obama's father was an African, not an African-American. Therefore the minority experience of African-Americans, i.e. slavery and official segregation, is irrelevant when talking about Obama.
