  • Know what's up with the dollar, Zkrib?
    Nope.

Both BPI & my credit union are on the Cirrus system, so yesterday, I tried to use the my credit union's ATM and theCirrus system to deposit money into my BPI account. Didn't work. So today's task is to make it to mid-Wilshire and use the BPI ATM. I must also find a U.S. Bank.

    • Well, best laid plans. Hopefully the mice are having a better time of it.

The dollar has recovered a bit last I looked it was back up to almost 47. I'll check it again.

Glad your flight went well except for Tag.

We've made big progress on the salacot, I'll post some pics soon. I think you'll be glad you went two stories, there's lots of air up there. It comes in the open end that faces Jagna and blows right along the length of the building and out the other end. I love it up there. I'll be able to see the second floor of your place from up there I think. We'll have line of sight perhaps. Might be able to use walkie talkies for short messages.

You have windows planned for either end of your building I'm sure...

      • One other thing. I asked Sho who can help him finish the swimming pool...Elmer. He has masonry skills as well as carpentry. Wish we had him for the first story of my Garcia house.

Opps, the $ is at 46.4.

        • I found a U.S. Bank today & learned all about MoneyGrams. It turns out they only take currency -- no personal checks -- so I'll go back on Monday with some cash.

--Hmm, I just noticed a repeated reference to "agent" on the form I brought home with me. Because it says the "agent" must retain the form for five years, I'm guessing that the "agent" is the bank. And it says the "test question" is not available for $900 or more. Why do transfers of larger amounts have less security.

At BPI, I learned the only ATM they have in the city is sitting right next to the cashier. The largest deposit they'll take is $2,000, so I deposited that much into my personal account. It cost $20 to do so. The check should clear in 5 business days. Then, when need be, I can transfer it over to Theresa.

P300 for Elmer is fine. I'll let Theresa know about the increase.

          • That's all good news. The guys will be available in a couple of days so any time after that. Did Tito get the permit?

            • I'm guessing no. I have heard from Tito since living the Philippines. No plans, no comments, no nothing. I figure he'll get stuff to me when he gets it to me.

                • Good news, things are happening. The local govt has the plans and are looking them over. When Tito has a copy and you have a copy you might want to instruct him to get a copy to Sho.

Uh...okay. I thought I was supposed to see them first.

But I guess the local government is only concerned about things like whether the building will stand up or not. I'm more concerned as to whether Tito added the showers to the bathrooms and replaced the round fountain on the roof with a square pool with waterfall. I guess I can wait until the governmental okay.

I just MoneyGrammed $2,000 to Theresa. That should be enough to get some materials for the seawall and to pay the crew for awhile. I'll e-mail her about the

                          • When Teresa gets cash she can order stone and sand which will take a few days to arrive. Not sure how much it will cost but with the $2000 the crew would certainly have something to do for a while. All but Sho are out a job, waiting, (and wanting) to start. Sho has some (make work) finishing up work tp do at our place.

Teresa went to ask Tito how much stone and sand would be needed but we haven't heard what answer she got if any. Dolores will check on that.

                            • Tito told Teresa to wait and didn't give her any info. Don't quite get that... I hope a bunch of stone doesn't arrive, ordered by him, at a premium. There's no reason why rock can't be stored on the property, that's not construction. Besides that stuff is loose and easy here, they could start the seawall anytime. I believe I know exactly what you want there since you told Sho and I, and Tito really doesn't know. That would make the project farther along by the time you return. Actually, Tito isn't needed for the seawall and circumerance wall.

If you want I'll tell Teresa to order a short estimate of rock and sand when the $ arrives and get things rolling.

Edit:Tito contacted Teresa, saying we would know this week. That doesn't seem too bad.

I too do not understand Tito's "order." Theresa works for me, not him. I told her to arranged for the stuff. I told Tito our people would be getting the stuff. He has no reason nor authority to overrule her.

You might have to play tough guy, wade in and say, Mike wants the seawall built!

BTW: On the support posts for the house within the seawall, there's a post right in the middle of the house; then one on either side of the middle post, 4 1/2 meters from the middle post; and then the flanking posts, one on each side, which are another 4 meters out. These flanking posts mark the side walls of the house. But don't forget, the roof will extend another 1/2 meter out beyond the walls. Thus, the house itself is 17 meters long, but at the roofline, it's 18 meters long.

                                .............<-------------------------17------------------------->............

[The asterisks are the five supporting posts.]
