I'm not talking **** about the US. I'm asking you what the US reaction to the use of force when vital interests (like on your borders) are at stake would be.

We would react to them certainly. You will say that the Russians would do the same, I know. Perhaps you are right. However they invaded Georgia, a democracy. There are other nations in danger, we must not stand by if we can help them. As I said before, we don't have alot of choices, that's Russias fault. The Ukraine isn't a pawn, they are a nation of people who have a right to self determination. Americans support that sort of thing, it's what we do.

Georgia attacked the independent country of South Ossetia. Georgia started this war, not Russia.

Georgia sought to restore consitiutional order in a rebellious province who's independence hasn't been recognizd by the international community after provocations by SO troops.

South Ossetia proclaimed itself independent of Georgia even before the fall of the USSR. It has been de facto independent since 1992.

The fact is that thier independence hasn't been recognized so it is kind of hard to assert that Georgian troops attacked a sovereign State especially as far as the rest of the world is concerned the territory is Georgian.

The Chechens attacked Russia, both in Dagestan in in several terrorist attacks in Moscow.

That said, I support independence for Chechnya.

Well, don't forget we actually managed to lose the first Chechen war. They were de facto independent from 1996 until late 1999.

And might still well be if they hadn't thought they could defeat Russia in a second war and take Dagestan and another nearby republic from them as well.

As it turns out, most of you were hysterically overprojecting. The Russians had recognized South Ossetia for awhile, then leaped to its defense, chased the Georgians out and back to their own capitol, and are now demanding the "war criminal," Saak, step down. Cease fire in the meantime.

The Russians primary weapon for use on NATO is to cut off the natural gas and oil lines to western Europe.

As for the US, they could have deployed air units to Tblisi in a day or less, if they really wanted to tick off the Sovi .. er, er, Russians. No need.

The Russians have notified all the border states, "Don't **** with us." Emphasis on that, period. No nuclear war this time either. These Russians have grandchildren too.
