Lousy sounds system. By the time we got to the theatre, the place was already packed and we were forced to sit in the front row, not exactly the optimal spot for the sound system, but we understood everything just fine.

This movie might very well pass Spiderman 3 in terms of opening weekend - I got out of seeing it at 10:30PM and was walking north towards Times Square when I came upon this line about a block long of people waiting to get into one of the multiplexes (25 screens) and one guy on line was talking about how he was waiting for the 1AM showing.....
It is a shame that Ledger won't be able to revise his role - I never liked Nicholson's Joker, and I liked the Joker from the animated series. But this interpretation is the best I have seen, and I can't see anyone making it better, at best someone might copy it, but it would take a lot.
As for possible future bad guys, now that Rachel is dead, there is plenty of space for "romance" by bringing in Catwoman. Certainly the general tenor would be far less dark than this movie, but we also do have the whole issue of Batman being sought as a criminal, and how that makes his job and Gordon's job so much harder. The Riddler, Poison Ivy (an "green" bad guy, fits the times), and even Harley Quinn (since the Joker is technically locked up and he set an example for truly insane bad guys for Gotham) could come in.If you don't like reality, change it! me

Just came in from seeing it...I have to say, that was much more acting than I expected from Ledger. The adverts did not do him justice.Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

Just a great movie. I really liked the two parts of the movie... the second part was a bit long and drawn out, but it was also the one that made the movie stand out, IMO. It was the part that actually had something to say rather than just being a popcorn superhero flick (and even then it does that to absolute perfection with Ledger's Joker being the great comic book movie villain ever).
The second half was a great study in the idea that we all have the evil inside of us. Just lurking on the edge is that switch that drives us from the white light hero, to a monster, killing anyone he can find for revenge. The demise of Harvey Dent was absolutely brilliant and was the soul of the movie. And the boat scene was the counterpoint... that even in the worst of situations, people can be good. People don't always fall into the abyss. The civilians voted to murder the prisoners, but no one can do it and in one of the best scenes of the movie, the Zeus prisoner picks up the detonator and tosses it out the window.
I think the second half, while far more drawn out than the action packed first half was really something amazing. And that's not even getting into the scene with Batman and the Joker in prison.
Oh, and Guy, it was always intended to be a trilogy, I've heard, so we will get a 3rd flick. We can only wait to see what'll happen. I'd like a deranged Riddler... and maybe an upperclass Penguin (maybe doesn't look like a Penguin, but is called that because of his tuxes and girth).“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Advice to anyone still reading the thread who hasn't yet seen it:
Don't read any more hype than you already have. Go see the movie. Have fun - I'm sure you will. I'm trying to avoid gushing about it too much, because I'm not the sort of person who does that (ahem, Imran,) and because I don't think it's really my job to make everyone share my opinions. I hope that you'll enjoy it as much as I did.
For those who have already watched it, and think it's awesome, I dare you to check out the IMDB top 250 right now."You're the biggest user of hindsight that I've ever known. 1. Go to a Danish movie theater, but here you are forced to see the movie with subtitles (I can't stand subtitles, unless it's necessary, e.g. when the movie is Chinese or something like that, I'm not going to watch a movie with subtitles)
2. Go to a German movie theater (only thing worse than subtitles is when they dub a movie in German)
3. Download the movie in crappy quality
On another note: Watching a movie in a movie theater is also quite annoying for various reasons:
1. Be here 30 minutes before showtime or get a crappy seat
2. Price (costs at least twice as much as in USA, from what I've heard)
3. Even the 'good' seats are crappy
4. After getting seated you're forced to watch 15-20 minutes with stupid commercials
5. Not to mention the above mentioned crappy subtitles
6. And of course you always ends up sitting right behind a tall person and right next to a person who comments everything in the movie
MUCH more fun to watch it at home (not to mention a lot cheaper too)
I'll wait! This space is empty... or is it?

Nothing better than a massive screen and big ass speakers with surround sound. While I enjoy watching movies on my HDTV... it can't compare.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. But Catwoman fulfills pretty much the same "bring to justice or bring to bed?" role as Talia, and is familiar to audiences, so Catwoman is much more likely to show up than Talia. But yeah, Talia, Catwoman, and a well-done Riddler are the most viable candidates. Mr. Freeze,Poison Ivy, Killer Croc, et al, are a little cartoony (but they did do Scarecrow in the first movie, so who knows?). Of course, if Dent is alive, Two-Face could show up as well. Penguin maybe, though he's kinda boring, physically he's bizarre, but mentally he's just another criminal. Maybe they could do something with Penguin coming to Gotham as a legitimate upper-class guy, and Batman has to figure out/ prove he's also the new crime boss in Gotham. I don't think any other members of Batman's rogues gallery are famous enough to make it, though once again, they did use Scarecrow and Ra's in the first movie. So who knows? I sure don't.
I think Talia is really the best bet. She wasn't in the first movie. In a potential Batman 3, she'd be tempting Batman both sexually and psychologically - to give in to both his passions and to his anger.Spoiler:Gotham's corruption took Rachel from him, destroyed his friend Dent, and is now chasing him for his selfishness.
I think the Riddler is a definite possibility. Personally I think Paul Bettany would do a great job. Forget Jim Carrey's ridiculous performance; I envision the new Riddler as an arrogant, zero-ethics, genius "Bat-Hunter" gone awry.
Penguin and Catwoman are definitely out. The director and screenwriters have already nixed those two, see here for one example.
If we're lucky, maybe they'll use some stock footage of Ledger, couple it with some CGI and show the Joker getting locked up at Arkham in the very beginning (for contiguity's sake, of course).
So IMHO the best bet for Batman 3 would be a sultry Talia and a twisted Riddler.
Ledger's Joker has set the bar extremely high, though.Last edited by Alexander I; July 21, 2008, 11:44.The Apolytoner formerly known as Alexander01
