4 percent of blacks said that the race of the candidate was important to them. The numbers were too small for the poll to measure how many of that 4 percent supported Mrs. Clinton and how many supported Mr. Obama.

Nine percent of black voters said race was not important; 9 percent of them voted for Mrs. Clinton and 91 percent of them voted for Mr. Obama.

What did the other 87% say?

But Heaven forbid if White voters would apply that same factor on their part. I think that is what Kuciwalker took issue with. That, and how the media has tended to handle it.

While this is probably true, there's a HUGE historical context that goes with this thinking. Put simply, blacks voting for blacks b/c they're black has the perception of lessening the impact of historically institutionalized racism, and whites voting for whites b/c they're white has just the opposite perception. Also race issues are much higher on the agenda in black communities than white. So it's not surprising to see the results that we got.

As for the MM, they'll say/print anything that they think will get more viewers. That's hardly Obama's fault.

Also, how far off is this following.. observation. Honestly? The guy can't have the following he does based on the actual political substance of his campaign, can he. The one that to any neutral observer just isn't there to be found.

It's waaay off. The guy oozes of charisma. The right-wingers don't see it, cuz he doesn't speak to them.

No Winston was hinting liberal whites voted for him b/c he's black due to "white liberal guilt", which is not the case.

He has been involved in politics for a long time. He managed to go from the long horse in the dem party to the front runner, which speaks to his organizational skills. And not for the 1st time, as the same happened in his senatorial race, where he picked up a surprising amount of white voters for the same reason.

Plus he's a Chicago politician. Never underestimate a Chicago politician.

Meaning either A) it's the least terrible data available on the topic or B) there is no reliable data on the topic whatsoever. Either way, it doesn't change the fact that your "evidence" was equally meaningless if not more.

Even if we accept your (to me, strange) belief that what amounts to an "are you a racist" quiz is meaningful, that doesn't mean that actual voting records aren't, in a relatively controlled environment.
