SAN DIEGO—Unionized janitors in San Diego have reached a four-year deal that avoids a strike.
The contract negotiated by the Service Employees International Union representing some 2,000 janitors and the janitorial firms calls for pay hikes ranging from $1.20 an hour for downtown janitors and $1 an hour for janitors in the suburbs.
There also are health care improvements in the new contract.
