Another reason why HMB left d20 was he felt it was becoming a milkrace to get as much money from the public as possible.

Apparently he thinks this is a bad thing. But as a lawyer in training, I have to remain silent...

try reading 'order of the stick' and 'another gaming comic' web comics + the D&D extracts from the latter. This should help give you an idea of situations that can occour for the characters and the ways they have dealt with them, as a significant amount of the text is OOC

It's fun, but not as much fun as B&D

A little late. But yes, that one made me smile.

Soo.... I've gotten myself a DM and I've made a character. We'll be playing with 3.5 rules.

My character is a paladin. How I should play him so that I'm not too annoying?

Those 2 words say it all.

You, sir, made the wrong choice.

You don't chose a paladin to have fun, do you?

Alongside the pretty awesome DDi online tools to complement the rules, that aren't up yet despite the rules being released awhile back.

And also the death of Dragon and Dungeon magazines.

What annoyed HMB the most was the merging of the Wizards message boards to throw out all the old settings. Apparently WotC has reinstated them after four months but HMB has taken off his notes from there and so people like me and Willcox have no reason to go on there anymore.

HMB keeps going on about it. It looks like he's pretty angry about the whole thing.

I'm pretty pleased with the new edition (though playing a 3.5 game alongside a 4e one), but I'm pretty pissed at how Wizards has handled this whole thing. *shrug*

They've never struck me as a terribly well run company.

If I had more free time, and if the other people I game with were up for it, I'd want to try out some of the less well known systems. We're also running a Deadlands game right now. Lots o' fun there.

I moved a couple months ago. being a little bit of a stickler for organization, I bought an obscene number of plastic totes. packed 'em and labelled 'em (all four sides and the top). While this made moving in super easy, it also allowed the movers to discover the tote labelled "D&D". I see one of them carrying it out -- he says nothing.

So, it's a hot day. An hour later, I'm pitching in and saving myself some dough by helping them load the truck. I come stumbing out of the house lugging a mattress. The smart-guy, eighteen year old stoner mover, goes, "Dude, you must be like some kind of Warlock to carry that mattress all by yourself -- what are you, like level 18?" My girlfriend nearly died laughing.
