You know, that's a debate I don't believe we've had at Poly before - walking speed. You two keep at it; I'm intrigued.

Having looked online for specifics, it seem average walking speed is generally lower, from 2 to 4 MPH, and 5 MPH is considered rather brisk walking.
This of course does not assume a lot of foot traffic and pedestrian congestion. If you don't like reality, change it! me

I haven't ever been around someone who walks faster than 4 mph. I generally walk under 3 mph, and so do a lot of people I know.
For a long time, to go above 4 mph, I had to be jogging (which generally put me up to 5 mph).

b etor, how much walking do you do?
I walk up to 7-8 miles a day if I walk to work and back, and walk up and down mountains for fun on holiday. Either your '5.5mph' is over ridiculously short distances, or your gym machine needs re-calibrating.

MOst people won't walk for an hour to go grocery shopping (and then walk an hour back).
Most people are lazy gits.
