Re: US Supreme Court Says: Need ID to Vote
By the way, the Sup. Ct. did NOT say that American citizens need a photo ID to vote. The Court held that the Indiana statute mandating a photo ID check as verification at a polling station was Constitutional. It will be interesting to see if there's a stampede to enact this sort of requirement in other States, but as of right now, I think Indiana might be the only one with such a law.
Just wanted to clarify for those foreigners who are not familiar with how the Court systems works here, and might be under the misapprehension that this is now a nation-wide rule. (Or citizens, for that matter...)

Agree with the ruling or the dissent?
Personally, I'm a bit disturbed that people used to be able to vote with just the voter card and no ID, so I'm all in favor of this. A picture ID is quite easy to get and its not an unreasonable restraint, imo, to better protect the integrity of the process.
I suppose the argument by the ACLU is that some people might not be able to locate documents to give to the licensing branch, ie, moved and no birth certificate, or way too old.
