It sounds like your school has a stupid policy.

As che was saying, this is a solution in search of a problem. Now there's a huge logistical mess of getting up to date photo id's to large numbers of people, specifically the elderly poor. This might prevent a significant number of people from showing up to next week's primary.

You're right, you shouldn't be required to show photo id to sell your books back.

You also have to show ID to write checks, rent movies, get a job, open a bank account, ect.

Though, to be fair, DD, none of those are guarenteed rights.

These are nothing but red herrings. What problem does this fix and does it outweigh the problem it causes?

No, bounced checks always help businesses.
Banks need I.D.? Bah! How ridiculous.

Though I will say, that some states requiring government issued IDs is kind of silly. I think if you have a picture ID from, say, college or your employer and a current bill that should be fine.

If you are so marginalized that you don't have photo ID and are incapable/unwilling to acquire this piece of ID what are the odds that you are a voter anyway?

Sounds like a good thing to me (and the law has been on the books for a while, so it's not exactly the lawmaker's fault that people were acting as if it would be struck down). People SHOULD have up to date IDs.

I think we should just microchip the poor and be done with it.

I want my microchip now. It's such a bother having to carry around a wallet.
