In all fairness, most warnings are not harsh. They get harsher when people don't comply. And in all honesty, most do comply. Which is always GREATLY appreciated.
Yes there are exceptions. Sometimes even I have a BAD day.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

At Poly you don't have to be banned to recieve hostile attitude. I am sure that there is a staff thread somewhere on it. I was told that nearly everyone wanted my whole team permabanned. In the end, I guess, some reason won out and we were merely ridiculed both privately and publically......and all for someone else's bad judgment.
I read that thread and it was horrible how poorly you were treated. People who just happened to be in the same civ group as a poster (group of 3 with one login)who had a DL in another group treated very, very poorly. Wrong place, wrong time, that was your crime. Shameful mistreatment.

I'm consitently stupid- Japher I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

I don't think so, Lancer.
Had that been an ISDG the team would have been retired on the spot.
The reactions of some from Plato's team were far from appropriate to just about anybody who wasn't part of their team, and even some of them.

I didn't see that. What I saw was a bunch of guys caught in a bad situation, could have happened to anyone. If it was me I'd have given no apology. Think about it, some guy you never even met joins your group and next thing you know people are making all sorts of demands on you. No, that's just wrong. I'm in one of these groups now and if one of the people I never met turns out to be bad, well that has nothing to do with me. The whole thing is absurd and anyone that cast doubts on them was dead wrong. Ming was a total ass who made things much worse.
They should have tossed the guy and played on. But no, it's got to be the reason why darnit! I lost a city or so and so attacked. Well blah.
...and it wasn't an ISDG game was it? So why bring it up, it's just more drama.
If I had been on PLATO's team you would have seen some reactions I'll tell you that. No. I must respectfully tell everyone that was on those guys to *** **** ***** ******* 8 times.
Sorry notyoueither, but that thread got my blood up a bit. If it wasn't so old I'd have piled on. Ming was horrible to those guys.

James is Paddy's nephew. He had posted from Paddy's residence. Paddy was the leader of the team. Just so you're clear on that.
The problems began when some members of the team tried to slough off the problem and tried to insist that other teams get on with it. That was a very big problem, with members of other teams saying **** it and quitting because of the behaviour of some of Plato's team regarding the problem.
The point of bringing up ISDG rules is to give a reference point of how serious the situation was. I don't know if you have a very good grasp of playing a team game where hundreds of people devote thousands of hours over a period of months and years... to have it all blown away by an issue like that.
As for Ming, I didn't see anything I didn't expect. Some of the responses of the team in question were quite outrageous, as a matter of fact. Ming was in the middle of it and is, well, Ming.

Sure, I can appreciate that people get really into it. My reaction would have been, ok, the guy is out lets play too, also because of the time involved. Too bad it was let go, for all concerned.
You know I had a thought while reading that thread. Irl govs have to worry about spys, right? Say each team was allowed 2 DLs, all understood in advance so it's on the up & up. They can plant these DLs in the months prior to the start of play and try to get them into other groups. Maybe the other group targeted might suspect and let the guy in to plant disinformation...
I think it would be really cool. Both in running your DLs and trying to figure the other guys.

I just got back from a few days on the road and noticed Asher and KH had disappeared from the NHL playoff threads. Odd. Then I saw Rah's Gripe thread OP and thought maybe he and Asher had gone ahead and done a disastrous OTcast. But no...
I've now read about half this thread, but now I'm going to sleep. So it seems we have a Feedback area that doesn't accept feedback. And we have a topped Gripe thread, yet the "disappointing" incident that triggered it (and, apparently, several follow-up threads) have been "cleansed" from the site.
As far as I can tell:
It appears that Asher provided site coding feedback, and Locutus took it as some sort of personal attack. So Asher is banned again, and, with this thread, it "seems" to be a topic open for discussion -- except nothing remotely relating to the facts is available for viewing.
And given that all actual history/evidence has been systematically eliminated from public view, I have to rely on my instincts and the scant facts available to the viewing public. They tell me that: Locutus overreacted to Asher's tone, and the rest of the administration feels constrained to back him, since Locutus seems to be supplying the spittle and string that holds the site code together. Fair enough, I guess.
I understand the dynamic. But if Locutus' role is to do critical coding, why is he spending his time modding (i.e. swinging the banning rod, deleting threads, etc.)? I don't want my carpenter disciplining my kids.

As far as I'm concerned ASHER ate the hamburger, spit it out, said it sucked, and he could have made it better despite never having truely contributed to cooking or providing the food ever. And then *****ed when his father called him out for hurting his mother's feelings.
Make him do the cooking for a month.
Some more gripes:
1. Is Grandpa Troll still attaching images to every ****ing post? Can't you stop that somehow.
2. Before I logged in, the OTF was sorted in a weird fashion, not by time of last post.
