How much respect I have for him has nothing to do with it. The only thing that matters is if he wins or not, not how much respect he deserves.
Further, if you think Clinton has damaged him, you are in for a rude awakening when the competition has actual philosophical governance differences.
Nonsense. McCain can't hurt him nearly as much as Hillary can by staying in the race. McCain is McBush. The only way he is even showing up in the polls right now is because Hillary hasn't dropped out yet.
However, if he does lose the general election, I can see quite a bit of monday morning quarterbacking regarding the mich/fla issues and the general leadership (or lack thereof) of the party.
The party will definitely look bad, but a whole lot of that blame will sit squarely in Clinton's lap.

I'm curious how Clinton is responsible for:

      1) Wright
      2) Rezco
      3) Repudiation of small town ideals (ok I was looking for a third r, but you know what I mean )

      and most importantly,
      4) His bowling ability

I guess the biggest difference I can see is that he wouldn't be seeking to distance himself from the heady 90's of Clinton I.

None of that will hurt him.

He doesn't really need to do anything. What the democrats need to do he put their support behind one candidate. The sooner the better.

All she has to do is support candidates like her after her loss and say that she disagreed with the direction Obama was taking the party. If he loses, she'll be vindicated.

That's not going to work when the substantive differences between their platforms is so small.

Actually she HAS to stay in the race as long as she can to get something like Majority Leader.

It's exactly the opposite. Her bargaining power diminishes over time. The closer to the convention we get (or more to the point, the closer we get to the end of contested primaries), the less value dropping out would have.

The longer Clinton stays in it the longer they both have to open their mouths the better chance McCain has.

                    Let's start a write-in movement: "Elok's Mom" for president.

Does that mean he can't hit us when in response to "Who's the President" we say "Yo Mamma!"

Reid certainly has been a wimp.

Majority Leader (that's Reid) is the position with power. Pro Temp (Byrd) gets you a higher position in Prez succession (after Veep and Speaker of the House), but not much more than that...

Sadly, it's a bit late for her to join, and with only two supporters (one of them Canadian), she wouldn't get far. Also, I don't think she's silly enough to want the job. But I agree, Mom as president would be awesome.

Not at becoming president obviously, just at making comments. No offense intended towards Elok's mom.

Anyway, Carter's advice would be the best advice for her if she wanted to help her party. I don't think he want's her to become president, and she souldn't be, unless of course she were to be the democratic candidate.
