  • I think I could run an airline

It seems they let idiots in charge of airlines these days.

What's so hard about it? Picking routes? Picking schedule? Picking airplanes per route?

I would also, you know, inspect my airplanes as per government mandate.

I think I'm on to something here. More to follow.

The problem is that they didn't pay the right guys off. Let a Chicagoan run an airline, we'd be fine

        Isn't United from Chicago?

Yes. I would also take a page from Air Canada and charge extra for customer service, baggage, and "free" mints.

Yes, but they apparently aren't run by Chicagoans any more. If they were, they'd have paid off the right guys and been fine.

Simply living in Chicago doesn't make you a Chicagoan I bet their executives eat their hot dogs with ketchup...

Sure. Just loudly proclaim that your business is essential to the country, and hold our your hand to Uncle Sammy.

US banks seem to have picked up that skill, too.

It's not about pay offs. It's about hiring former FAA inspectors, and then having your "new employees" talk their buds back at the FAA to quash any inspections or citations.
