Some of the watchable series this season that I'm following include Kannagi, Ga-Rei Zero, and Kurozuka. Out of those three, Kurozuka is the best so far, if you can get past the vampire genre. Kannagi is a lot better than I expected for a series about a goddess idol. Ga-Rei Zero has a lot of faults, but some of the story line drew me in.

Eve no Jikan, the OVA that I mentioned earlier, is turning out to be excellent.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Maybe I shouldn't be bumping this as it is almost Dec., but I was thinking about buying more anime but wasn't sure what.

I mean, I would like to own Neon Genesis or Gunslinger Girls or maybe even Elfen Lied but it would be sort of nice to get something new. Maybe I should focus on watcihng new stuff online and buying just the stuff I will want to rewatch (and have already seen).

In the past I have gotten some good stuff first on DVD, like Boogiepop Phantom.

--"Maybe I shouldn't be bumping this as it is almost Dec."

Probably should start a new one sometime soon.

That's pretty much what I do. On that note, you did say you enjoyed Aria, and the first season of that is out in the US now, so you might want to consider that. The Girl who Leapt Through Time might be another one to consider. It's a movie, so you should be able to find it for a decent price. Considering your taste, you might want to check out Yawara, but that's a big purchase for a blind-buy. Not sure what all you already have, so it's harder to recommend earlier releases.

          Oh Dear God No.

Probably old news, but this was the first I saw of it:

As far as I remember, Cowboy Bebop didn't have any Earth-shattering themes. Reeves should do great in a hip-fest. Did great in the Matrix.

From the article, he has a good handle on he needs to do, but I think he should stay away from the end of the major story arc.

Of course, the real question, the one on which movie's success will depend, is,

              Who will play Faye?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

                Important Question:

What is the largest recorded Mass Haruhi Dance??

                EDIT:
And, yes, as a teacher I mercilessly wielded my awesome power to control Middle Schoolers to force 25 otherwise innocent children to perform the Haruhi Dance to my maniacally demanding specifications, hopefully ruining them for all future employment, human relationships, and service in the armed forces.

                  Even More Important Question:

What the heck is a Haruhi Dance, Mass or otherwise?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

                    --"Oh Dear God No."

Heh. There's plenty of worse anime to live-action Hollywood transitions going on now. He's far from the worst choice they could have picked. I'll wait to worry about it until they announce what part of the story they'll be working from (or, more likely, ignoring).

--"What is the largest recorded Mass Haruhi Dance?"

Haven't got a clue what the largest is, but this one in Akihabara looks bigger, and I really doubt it was the biggest to happen there.

--"What the heck is a Haruhi Dance"

The dance done in the ending credits for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumia, although that isn't the full version of the song and dance. The show was one of those flukes that hit with just the right timing to be much more popular than ever expected, so they ended up with flash mobs of fans dancing the ending theme.
