I have mostly been watching the second season of Zoku Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei, recently, although I broke out my Azumanga Daoih DVDs to enjoy that again alaso.

I didn't mention it, but I watched 'zero louis' or something like that (first season) a couple of weeks ago.

Battle Angel Alita was a great series, I haven't followed the new series so well but perhaps I should. Wonder how long until it gets a compilation.

I've been reading the Gunsmith Cats new series as well - it's my 'light silly fun with occasional unclothed females' read Learn a lot of interesting details with cars and guns along with reasonably fast paced action... am I wrong in believing there is an anime of it somewhere?

It's on directly after Bleach, they shook things up a bit after Blood+ finished..

You can find Adult Swim's comprehensive schedule for the next couple months here.

DreamWorks has acquired rights to the Japanese manga "Ghost in the Shell" with plans to adapt the futuristic police thriller as a 3-D live-action feature.

Story follows the exploits of a member of a covert ops unit of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission that specializes in fighting technology-related crime.

Created by Masamune Shirow, "Ghost in the Shell" was first published in 1989. It went on to generate two additional manga editions, three anime film adaptations, an anime TV series and three videogames. The second anime film, "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence," was released in the U.S. by DreamWorks in 2004.

Avi Arad, Ari Arad and Steven Paul of Seaside Entertainment are attached to produce and brought the project to the studio. Jamie Moss has been tapped to pen the adaptation.

Universal and Sony were also chasing "Ghost in the Shell," but Steven Spielberg took personal interest in the property and made it happen at DreamWorks.

" 'Ghost in the Shell' is one of my favorite stories," Spielberg said. "It's a genre that has arrived, and we enthusiastically welcome it to DreamWorks."

DreamWorks prexy of production Adam Goodman said "Ghost in the Shell" is a property "that epitomizes 3-D live-action motion picture possibilities."

Avi Arad is at the forefront of comicbook-based material, having produced the three "Spider-Man" films, the three "X-Men" movies, the two "Fantastic Four" picss and the upcoming "Iron Man" and "The Incredible Hulk."

Moss' writing credits include "Street Kings," which bowed Friday, and "Last Man Home," in development at Universal.
          What's a 3-D live-action feature? A movie with real actors?

            Probably like Spiderman.

I just hope that they properly portray the American Empire in it.

              Update with some news.

Right Stuf/Nozomi has gone for another never-expected-it license and picked up Aria.

One I did expect eventually, the Haruhi manga has been licensed by Yen Press. The novels have been licensed as well, by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers (haven't seen an official press release for this yet, just a forum post). The marketing on them so far has been... worrying, but hopefully the translation will be solid.

--"I have mostly been watching the second season of Zoku Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei"

Definitely more consistently funny than the first season for me. Fun stuff, and I wonder if there'll be another season.

--"Battle Angel Alita was a great series, I haven't followed the new series so well but perhaps I should."

As I understand it, he was forced for some reason to wrap up the first Battle Angel series before he wanted to. I don't recall why (health or publisher dispute probably), but Last Order is where he had wanted to take the series in the first place. If you liked the first it's definitely worth checking out.

--"am I wrong in believing there is an anime of it somewhere?"

There is, an OVA at least. Not sure how much else.

              --"What's a 3-D live-action feature? A movie with real actors?"

Could be with the silly glasses as well. Some of the rumors about the live-action Battle Angel movie either sounded like that or having the main character a 3D CGI instead of a real actor. Not sure either option sounds good.

I have been wondering why there was no Haruhi stuff in print. I hope that they do a good translation...

I still haven't bought the DvDs though, 30$ per one.

I watched some Kanokon last night, which I guess was OK for what it was, but wasn't anything I would recommend (Basically romantic comedy ecchi).

Quick bump to note that a second season of Nodame Cantabile has been announced, to cover the Paris arc of the manga.

--"I have been wondering why there was no Haruhi stuff in print. I hope that they do a good translation"

Novel translations aren't common yet, so I wasn't surprised it took this long. I'm mildly surprised it happened this soon. As long as they get better treatment than the Crest of the Stars novels...

As far as the current shows go, Code Geass season 2 is about as expected but with more fanservice than first season. Mecha and politics and Geass. I understand the first season is airing in the US now (no cable here).

Allison & Lillia doesn't come close to Kino's Journey, unfortunately. It's a decent enough series, it just isn't at the same level.

Kaiba has been a surprise, and a very good one. It's shaping up in to one of the most interesting series of the past couple years right now. Can't wait to see where they're planning to take it in the end.

Recently I have been watching Saikano and Doki Doki School...

Doki Doki (at least so far) isn't as good as Minamike or Lucky Star (and not near as good as Azumanga Daioh)

Last week's DeathNote (the one where Mello trades Light's sister for a Deathnote) felt like a shark jumping contest.

From the landing the jet in the middle of nowhere to the underground base complete with exchange booth, helipad and missle launcher to the goddamn cruise missle, it reached the point where suspension of disbelief could not be maintained.

Saw the third episode of Code Geass. What can I say, except that Adult Swim's censoring was pretty clumsy. I'm certain they've done it before, but it was pretty obvious this time around. It seems they are less Adult than they let on. I wonder how much tampering has happend with other series...

                          I'm looking forward to this.

Also, I'm looking forward to the next Haruhi.

I hope they make more Nana, actually, too.

Saw a preview for a Deathnote live action flick, to be shown 2 days only (memorial day weekend) in the local theater. Is this the same as what Mad_Monk refers to above (ie, is it also available on TV) or something different??

edit: I presume it's something different, since you link to a CN showing of it. Anyone know if this live-action deathnote is available for purchase on DVD or anything like that (legal)?

It's the same. They just made a live action adaptation of it.

I don't think that they've released it on DVD in the US though: Death Note (film)

I'll agree with you on this. Since L died, the series has been a bit dull. The next episode was a bit better, the new Shinigami was amusing.

Saw the third episode of Code Geass. What can I say, except that Adult Swim's censoring was pretty clumsy. I think I've only seen the first 2 so far. The first one was horribad. The second was better, so I'm still giving it a chance. Plus, I want to watchi Shin Chan after it anyway.
