It seems like a big investor is keeping NCC price at $7.

          Dude, that sucks.

I wonder if it's possible to survive as a going concern after a day in which you lose half of your market value (as in the case of National City).
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

It's alright for me, if this bank goes under I'll switch to one of many other projects. There's a couple of really cool ones here I'd like to jump on but I'm all tied up with this client...one's a disaster planning and management application using the MS Surface, with one such request for the middle east (that'll be a huge growing market!).

                I'd swoop on that.

14,000 Bear Stearns employees got ****ed pretty hard by a few Greedy fat cats at the top. 30% of Bear Stearns was employee owned. They're screwed.

I'm not crying for Bear Stearns employees (at least those who I don't know). They benefited handsomely when times were good.

Oh, and Enron employees got paid before it went bust so it's no biggy that everyone lost their pensions.

Don't put words in my mouth. Many of the Bear Stearns folks got bonuses worth tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. I'm supposed to shed a tear for them?

F that. I've got nothing against them, and am not going to kick them when they're down, but to describe them as "the little guy" is just absurd.

If you take your pay in stock options that's the risk you take. I don't see how they were f'd over.

But shed a tear for the secretaries, messengers, and office clerks, who never saw a 5-figure bonus and now will never see a pension.

You have no idea how they're set up for retirement.
