Good one, Winston.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Actually, I don't know what the hell China is. According to what I've read, only 25% of China's companies are privately owned, so some argue that China is still socialist. I want to know what percentage of China's economy those privately held companies account for. I expect it's actually quite a lot. And with China exporting surplus capital to Africa, China is seemingly joining the ranks of imperialism.Originally posted by DaShi
That's a good question. In reality, he's not supporting communism. But he thinks he is because he's taken to calling himself communist and must protect all others who do the same.
In truth, I'm far more communist than Che is. Or at least more leftist. But I'm not blind to what horrible things people can do, no matter what they call themselves.
As to why I'm siding with the Chinese, after the American Civil War ended, the Southern landowners began a guerrilla war to try and defeat reconstruction. Although suppressed militarily, they ultimately won out, ending reconstructions and taking away the political, economic, and civil rights of Black people for another century. These monks are like the former slave holders. They are trying to win back what they lost fifty years ago.
The Dahlai Lama is only one aspect of the movement to Free Tibet. Almost all of Tibet was owned either by the monasteries or the feudal warlords. If the end of Communism in Tibet is anything like the end of Communism in Eastern Europe, those former owners will be taking all their property back.Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Why is this Tibet thing so important to China? I understand the issue with Taiwan. That I can see being sensitive and kind of important, but why Tibet? I mean look at it... Tibet. Why is it such a big deal? Leave the small guy alone!
And there's small guys that are *******s. But Tibet? I mean it's just some dudes in robes, what's the big deal, it's not like they mean much harm to anyone. I don't dislike China, I think I like China more than most in here, but it kind of makes them an ******* to bully Tibet. In da butt.

Those don't count since the fact that they are communists doesn't make them parasitic. They are parasitic regardless.Originally posted by Winston
Er, do former heads of state, leading cabinet members and military chiefs count?

Are you serious? I thought it was more about the principle and not correcting the situation because it would mean you were wrong at some point.
I mean I really don't know. That's why I'm asking.In da butt.

Religion doesn't really play a role here. China isn't particularly athiest. The CCP is supposed to be, but generally religions and superstitions are quite common throughout the country and not as oppressed as you might think. Mostly, the CCP tolerates religion as long as it doesn't threatened their power and influence, which is why they want to institute their own Lama and their own bishops.Originally posted by Kidicious

Chinese governments going back well over a century have viewed Tibet as part of China's territory, as Alinestra Covelia stated. Re-establishing direct control over all parts of the Empire lost by the late Imperial government and the republic was one thing the Chinese Communists decided to do.Originally posted by Pekka
