A Thought Experiment About the Viability of Communism
If you don't mind me saying so, your posts don't have much substance.
I don't mind in the least considering the source.

“In a democracy, I realize you don’t need to talk to the top leader to know how the country feels. When I go to a dictatorship, I only have to talk to one person and that’s the dictator, because he speaks for all the people.” - Jimmy Carter
Washington could have been King, had he wanted. The economic system had fork all to do with it. In Europe, Latin America, and elsewhere, those who led the struggles for independence were leaders for life and are still revered today.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Yes Washington could have. It is a testament to his greatness that he did not. As a consequence he created an expectation and difference in style of governing from others of the day. By limitting the scope of governement and his own power he marks himself radically different from the incarnations communism seen since that radical departure to governance.

Also as king he could have named his Raulian like successor. So far as I can tell there hasn't been another King Washington since King George the first.

I wasn't the one who brought Washington in as a cult of personailty figure, that was Che.
But that aside he figures significantly better as a role for good moral governance vs. The God-like Castro bros.

Fidel didn't name his successor anymore than Nixon named his successor when he resigned. There's a constitutional order in Cuba that was followed.

But he's just about the only one who ever did, and there's still a cult of personality about him. There was even in his day.
But there have been other revolutionary leaders to have stepped down. Ortega stepped down after he was defeated in an election.

Saras, I believe you're just one of those gone wild after the fall of the Soviets. You think everything with the slightest connection to Marx must be associated with pictures of Soviet tanks in Vilnius and yadda yadda yadda. How boring!
Marxism is a term with a philosophical connotation, being mostly concerned with the economic, more precise dialectically-materialist interpretation of history.
Communism is an more concrete concept, originating in the first half of the 19th century (preceding Marx), later developed by him AND OTHERS, that aims at constructing a society that has negated all class difference.
The regimes we saw were "socialist" in the sense that they consdiered themselves on the way to an ominous communist state of affairs.
I could say it's beyond me why people keep mixing these things up. I blame the lack of need to grasp any of it. I could come up with some more, part Gramscian part Foucauldian stuff about how our minds are inevitably fused if not dominated by ruling ideals of free individuals inherently threatened by collective ideas, "teh Marx" being the ultimate evil on which all other evil is based, but I won't.
I can't believe that you still don't understand that that is irrelevant to the point you were trying to make.
The point that there has yet to be an example of communistic system that hasn't devlolved into a dictatorial system enshrining the leader with far too much power as opposed to the failed arguing that Washington was the same. Yes I see all too well.

That rather is the point of an election.

It's funny how people who deem themselves anti-communists (and thus, since it's all the same anyway, anti-Marxists), talk about "inevitable" outcomes of history. Did you guys do your studying in some Moscow-financed school?
