You must not understand the intricacies of humour like that of Levi Leipheimer or John De Nugent . If you don't know who they are , it's because you are intellectually lacking the capacity to be smart .Originally posted by Wiglaf

But how could you be expected to judge ?Originally posted by Asher
I don't think you're witty at all,
Acting isn't fraud. If you attend a play you know where you're going and what to expect- it's called suspension of disbelief. You remind me of a Shakespearean actor playing a role; a fraud.
But what am I saying ?
There can't be many people who expect you to have actually sat all the way through that many plays- Shakespearean or otherwise. What a merry thought.
Oh boo hoo, how very wounding. Which thesaurus are you using ?You're haughty and insufferable.
Pay attention: invective is not a substitute... for wit.The smug superiority you display would be fine, so long as it was backed up by something other than hot air and an annoying use of punctuation.
"....you just write like a 5 year old. "LOOK I AM WITTY.
Mmm, yes, that's right, because your barbed wit is so hurtful and accurate....It's not the first time. I've called him out before on his immense douchebaggery, and it hits a nerve 'cause it's so close to home.
Are you under medication for delusions of grandeur ?
You do like to flatter yourself, don't you ?He's got a vendetta going on now.
It passes the time. The computer was on, and I was browsing 'Poly. Still the day is young and I must away, before Asher's attempts at wit make me piss myself laughing. What's up with you getting in a flame war with Asher?Vive la liberte. Noor Inayat Khan, Dachau.

For starters, I do more than go to plays and read novels and dictionaries and pretend that's what makes one intelligent.Originally posted by molly bloom

It depends how you want to look at it. When actors lack skill, it definitely constitutes a feeling of fraud. Hey, wait a minute -- maybe that was the point when I used the word with you?Acting isn't fraud. If you attend a play you know where you're going and what to expect- it's called suspension of disbelief.
I don't use thesauruses, but you clearly do. How can you get on me for using "haughty" when you use even more obscure words like "invective"?Oh boo hoo, how very wounding. Which thesaurus are you using ?
You have yet to say one witty thing in this entire thread. And your attempts in others invoke groans more than laughter. That should be indicative of your lack of wit.Pay attention: invective is not a substitute... for wit.
Hey, you're the one that came in here pretending you were in any sort of position to judge me. You initiated this lame flame, not me. You've got obvious insecurities here, and that's simply obvious.Mmm, yes, that's right, because your barbed wit is so hurtful and accurate....
Are you under medication for delusions of grandeur ?
I honestly think you use a thesaurus on a regular basis to try to sound more intelligent.
I think you are either too stupid to realize you need to adjust your speech to the context, or you get a kick out of talking about obscure things to people who've no clue what you're talking about. It plays to your insecurities and makes you feel smart. Why else would you constantly name-drop obscure playwrights and poets in conversations with a computer scientist? Do you simply not comprehend that they don't have the same knowledge domain as you, or do you get your rocks off pretending knowing useless trivia about culture makes you the superior individual?
You fool some people on this site, but not all of us. "Haughty" and "insufferable" are absolutely the correct words to describe someone such as yourself. Your entire purpose in this thread, and on these fora in general, is to perpetuate your smugness as far as it will go.
And the reason you flame me without provocation is you know I'm right."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Why don't you just counter by name-dropping obscure figures from the history of computer science, and leave off the flaming?

Oh, were they from Comp sci? They sounded so odd (Nugent? As in aging Brit rocker Ted?) I figured you were just making 'em up. Then again, for all I know Molly makes up his smart-person name-drops.

Yeah, I mean, who's ever heard of Oscar Wilde?Originally posted by Elok

Oscar Wilde is not an obscure one -- but "Robertson Davies"?
I think he's just running out of names. He's discussed Oscar Wilde every time we have a flame war. It's kind of sad, actually?"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
