  • Well, the major job is done, the pour is successful, thank God. Now I can either sit here and answer posts and post pics or go celebrate and have some drinks with the guys.

          • My job yesterday was tapping. You tap on the form about a bazzillion times to get the cement to flow into every nook and cranny. Believe me whan I tell you that I'm about tapped out in more ways than one. Tough to take a pic of that activity since I'm too busy tapping so here is me harassing Lushington, who has gotten a name upgrade because is sacked out with this box that once contained rum.

I can't say how many times Les Schwab has pulled a nail out of my car tires! This poor tire has hopefully turned its last. It is re tire ing to the shore of the sea.

              The pour begins.

              • There is a bucket brigade of sorts all the way from down below at the mixer to where the cement is being poured. We brought on some help to move buckets, and bought some extra buckets. Also shown here is the house behind which is owned by a German or a Canadian or somebody. Haven't met them yet.

                • Bonfacio uses a sawzall (with no blade) we brought with us from Oregon to vibrate a form for the same reason I was tapping...to get the cement to flow.

What? You can come here to my place and drink my booze and you would rather it was your place and your booze?

This pic is from the gas station in Garcia. We had to refill the Pepsi bottles with diesel.

                      • The gang down below, the mixer and the start of the bucket brigade. Uncle Rufo (Real name Socrates) is on the shovel.
Ray is on the pulley system, Rigo is mixer operator and Papa Mente is saving some cement that was errant in its path... Behind the mixer is Bia who with Rigo had the toughest jobs yesterday and I handed them each a 50P bonus for their considerable troubles.

                        • I used a steel pole to do my tapping that was long enough I didn't have to bend over much. What I would do in this case is tap on the rebar of the tie beam and the cement would bounce along into the beam.

                          • Can't say enough about the part played by Rigo and Bia. Mente and I would feed them heavy friggin bags of gravel and sand and they would feed them into the mixer with the dusty cement, a cruel hard job.

Rigo will now go on to build the Poly House II which he says will start March 8. So we will have pics of that soon.
