  • We're getting some censorship here

    Yes, it's true.

Now, let me begin you by telling you about this lovely entity called Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (FICORA). First off, we have this crappy sub entity of that called YLE. It broadcasts "free" crap, upholds some comm lines and so forth. Everyone with a TV is supposed to pay what... over 200 euros per year for "tv license". The fee goes up every damn year it seems like and they don't actually offer anything. Note, it is enough to HAVE a TV, you have to pay then. Or some kind of card on your PC or whatever, then you pay. If you have the equipment to watch the broadcast, you pay.

This is enforced by FICORA, they send their dogs on people who aren't showing up on their list of people who have paid their TV license. Let me remind you, YLE is complete ****, no one I know actually even watches it. It's a state entity, the official propaganda arm of whatever.

Last time, it was over 8PM(!!!) when I got attacked by one of the dogs of FICORA who came to my home. I didn't open the door for that bastard, so he kept ringing the bell. Then he CALLED me on my cell phone from unknown number, and started yelling at me! I **** you not, he actually yelled me. He wanted me to confess I had a TV; and said "I can see your TV from your window!"., I was like what the ****, are on on my yard, trespassing and stalking me? You ****, you better run fast, because I'm coming there right now. So he was like naah, he was on the street. Well **** it, I'm coming to the street then. Yell at me there. So he was like naah, he was there just a minute ago, NOW he is in his car actually. Whatever. SO he was like I'll send you a letter, and it'll be expensive for you. I was like what letter? "You have a TV and you haven't paid the license, you'll get the letter and you will pay extra". I was like OK, send me the letter then.

So anyway, that was nice. This dude harrased me and was rude, called me and started yelling at me, was peaking inside my home and all kinds of **** just because of some TV license no one pays anyway.

So now, FICORA has stepped up again. With the support of the minister, they are actually blocking websites that might contain child porn. We're living it right now, bad movies, books, dystopias, here it is. The minister actually says basically "so you love to watch little kids getting ****ed?" as an argument. Not kidding.

When you enter a site, there's jsut "STOP, POLICE, STOP, POLICE" etc, with "this site has been blocked by the police" and al lkinds of crap. Not only that, but they already blocked a site that was criticizing this new "effort". That went into the secret list of blocked sites as well!!! Oh, adn the list is secret of course. They just block who they want, and they want to block. Oh, and that dude who had the site, he is actually under investigation for some **** like helping out the kiddie porno people, WHAT? YEs.

Groups who have worked with these new measures and laws and ****... well EFF was pretty much kicked out but the equivalent of RIAA got to stay. So yeah, we know their agenda. Block all P2P sites, and every link to them, everything that even resembles mp3s and whatnot. We've already started to block people who have a different opinion about it and have them come to an interrogation, I mean an interview. You do realize, that in the times of information warfare (term used incorrectly here), that dude is going to have it in his record for the rest of his life, as being suspected to help kiddie porno people. What the ****? Good luck with that, because sex crimes involving kids are ones that can be checked up just about any employer soon, so good luck dude. Too bad you had a different opinion and was kind of thinking this might happen and protested against it. Too bad, too bad!

Of course the way to work is to have a list of "unwanted sites", give it to ISPs who can then "voluntarily" block those sites. Riiiiiight... it's like the start of the drug war, where you'd tax and enforce licenses on them, just because you can't outright ban them first. This is some crap. As usual, people don't care.

The problem is, the real problem is (once again showing) how people just kind of trust the state, but let's not forget what it is. It's just bunch of fat people, elected by idiots. These fatties are just waiting to get lured by all kinds of special interest groups, who are better players with their agendas and they have more money, which really is the key again. This **** wasn't done because it's a good idea, it was bought, bought by the lobbyists and the likes who want to see more blocking and more all kinds of stff.

I woudl hope that the people elected would actually be there PROTECTING rights and stuff. But that's a pipedream, thus people who trust the state are nothing but traitors. It's not that I'd trust the state, it's that I don't trust people, period. I trust their idiocy though. It's like cops, they're supposed to protect us good people, but every once in a while there's an a-hole who abuses their powers and it's almost unforgivable. But at least the great majority of cops are at least trying to do their job properly and have that big picture in their head and do what they think is right sometimes instead of the playbook that might contradict what is right. SO anyway, with these politicians, it's the opposite, there's only few good men in there, and the rest are ****. The few good men are marginalized, because they actually care about what they do as in what's best for the people. Not how I can avoid this uncomfortable pressure from all kinds of other entities because they're now pressuring me, better give in, because I don't like this feeling myself and it prolly will go as well as they say for the people anyway, yeahhh... let's give them a good rogering!

In a world where you can kill all debate by saying "so you love child porno?" and that's basically it? IN a world like that, I'm afraid we won't be having much freedom of speech in the future. And at the same time we like to focus on other things, like how the rights of people in other countries are trampled and how it would never happen here, even if the measures are exactly the same, becuase OUR PEOPLE ARE HONEST and work with good intentions and would NEVER abuse their powers. What kind of idiots are these? I mean what kind of, is this jingoism or what is this?

In here, people pay up their asses for security they don't need. It's easy to point our fingers at US saying look, look how they kill their own rights! HAHA, IDIOTS! Well **** it, we don't even need an incident. Security vs rights, well we dont' even need that security, and our TRUE security lies in the rights to begin with. But since we're all bunch of idiots, we'll just implode. Well not really, we wont' be bursting into chaos and anarchy, we'll just **** up the good things we once had, because some people didnt' go to school and learn about them.

I am most disturbed; I didn't know it was like that up there in civilized Finland too. Using simple scare tactics to open the back door to oppression!

I believe all strong emotions can be used to manipulate people.

This may be a controversial statement, but I propose people stop having this stupid knee-jerk reaction to pedophilia.

People shouldn't be so upset by it, I mean if they aren't bothered by torture and mass murder why should this bother them? Why don’t the other forms of child abuse provoke such outrage? I believe that the pedophilia is way too much of a taboo to fight effectively. Only once we can rationally look at the issue, can we hope to achieve any meaningfull progress in fighting it.

But I’m getting sidetracked. Politicians are pragmatic, manipulative and incompetent. Only the masses of the people are emotional. The people’s only saving grace is the incompetence of politicians, but that is their curse as well. We could make them less pragmatic, but they would not be able to function. Our only hope is to reduce the power of one of the tools of manipulation.

/the delicious irony comes in when someone will qute the above and say: “So you like to f*** kids, ey Hera?” and no serious debate will occur beyond that point/

Hera, civilized, yes, but backwards? Absolutely. When it comes to privacy issues, there is none.

You know, our tax records are actually public. I can check out basically what you earned, send an SMS, costs only few euros. Got a new car in your yard? I'll just see if you can afford it or not. It's a public circus, and you know what, if I had any money, like lots of it? I'd be VERY afraid, since if I'm a bad guy, I can just check out who made what and visit your place the same night. See you then, dont' say you don't have any because I _know_ you do .

Our data collection and retention policies are virtually non-existent. Abuse? Holy cow.

So you ask me to trust these fatties? No way. Our "leaders" are the most gullible people known to mankind, but that's most likely because there's just bunch of b-level celebs there and so forth. We even had former WWE-wrestler there, singers, Miss Finland was a minister... athletes, all kinds of people who shouldn't be there. They're just stupid and being used, but others are straight up crooked.

ANd somehow we love it and ask "but who would do such a thing?". Did I mention we're gullible? Yeah.

They're incompetent, that's what they are. Why do you think we are the least corrupted country in the world? Because normal corruption doesnt' count . Taking benefits, sitting on bunch of chairs at the same time, ruling stuff that might be against the law, I mean that's just politics. if there was a mistake, I'm sure it was just a human error. Let's not forget they try their best, right?

But if you get on teh wrong side here? Good luck. Then again, this only makes my job so much easier since it's actually legal to get all kinds of information on other people. There's no public debate, there's NOTHING on these issues. Most people don't even know about the blocking of sites. It's not interesting enough, there's no boobies, fights or alcohol involved. Just good old incompetence, possibly corruption and rogering of rights and privacy. But who needs privacy, if you've done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to hide, right? In fact, if you are a pedophile, hiding that porno, I mean why are you against this thingie? What? Are you an... anarchist?

We are also having a wave of law suits against people who have written crap about other people on the internet forums. And these babies are going through, so we'll see more of it. It has been also suggested, that all interent forums SHOULD have moderators who are responsible for the messages in that board. So there.

It was also suggested, that since we can't really ban peopel from playing online poker, we just make these new rules, that our citiznes have the right to collect their lost money back from casinos. Effectively forcing casinos to ban Finnish players worldwide So you're saying "No we're not banning games... we are just protecting you". How can you say that with a straight face? I mean seriously. How dare you say that with a straight face and expect not to get punched in it.

Doesn't that go without saying? The government that you put in power should be without those things that you rebelled against. Is that the tyrant pigs?! I don't think so. It's more like the tyrant pigs are in power now.

It's not about the next government. It's about standing up for yourself and not taking anymore crap. That's the only way that government can funtion. Otherwise, it's natural for government to become corrupt.

Take it to the streets, in here? No one gives a ****.

now, there were few kids last year who took it to the streets. They had few beers even, someone had a STICK!

You bet your ass there were riot cops with masks on, dogs, everything. There were more them than protestors. And innocent people got caught in their block so you had two ways of getting out. a) be photographed by the cops and show your ID so you'll be entered into a database or b) stay and see what happens!

Arrest folks, tie them into the bars in a bus, and the only complaints that went throughw ere because people in busses had to **** on the floor or their pants, that was actually seen as "a possible mistake". Then again, when the investigating body is actually the authority itself, what do you expect, really?

So no, taking it to the streets isnt' really something that will happen. Unless you want baton and a record and digital copy of yourself to the list of people who cause problems, and good bye security clearance after that

If it is any comfort, they do the same thing here. They try to scare people to believe that they have specially equipped vans which can detect TVs from the street, and they also get agressive if they think they can get away with it. For example, I've heard of women opening the doors and these guys just letting themselves in to search for TVs. Some day they're going to do a wrong estimate and slip in only to find a husband with a shotgun and I'm not going to feel sorry for them.

Some people don't know their rights, they know they're not paying the TV "subscription", they get defensive and these mafioso-type guys exploit it to get them to admit and sign fines or whatever. In reality you don't have to open your door to anyone without a court warrant. But many people don't know this, and women are often easily intimidated by tough looking badge-waving enforcers.

People could just stop watching ****ing TV. That would send a clear message. But as Pekka says people just aren't ready for that kind of thing. They just want to sit on their fat asses, watch TV and eat potato chips.

Vet, exactly. That rude a-hole who yelled at me and just started with all that crap (it was night time too), lurking inside my home catching a peak... he suddenly was actually in the street, then in the car that was in the street, then it was a minute ago... just tell them you'll be coming out to see what's what. These is their scare tactics, just threaten and stalk people. It's kind of sick too if you really think about it. For a damn TV license, even if you don't have a TV.

Then, FICORA has suggested that companies similar to HBO, pay tv, that they have to release their customer database so they can match it with thier own. If you pay for some channels, and not ours, you'll be screwed. THat's nice, privacy issues? I guess there are none.

We need to make sure our public spokesman is a former model with big fake boobies in a sexy dominatrix like uniform. And that the people perceive our policy as “free beer” and “to kick out stinky foreigners”.
