I don't think the stuff in your life (meaning the things you as an invididual experience) is ever going to be much of a point if viewed objectively. It all dies with you, if not sooner as it passes or you forget about it. Objectively, it's about how you affect the world around you that will live on. If you're looking for meaning in your life... you could start there. Doesn't have to be anything major, especially at first. Pick up a bit of litter or something and dispose of it properly. You've now made the world a better place. A good point to life if you ask me.

For example: I always pick up pieces of broken glass I find while I walk along the beach. There's usually a few pieces that catch my eye along the way if I walk up to the pier. Maybe some kid's day isn't ruined because of it, who knows. It's a point and is easy enough to do. Plus it opens your eyes to what you're passing by, keeping you looking. The way the sun sparkles off the pyrites in the sand, the way each wave rolls in, the scattered shells.

Subjectively, the point can be whatever you want. Taking naps, daydreaming, and soaking up sun is a nice "point" I choose for my life when more objective "points" aren't available. I don't find doing nothing dull most of the time, and if I do it's because I'm not paying very much attention to what's around me. If you look close enough, even stuff you pass by every day is going to be different and new in some way. (If not, find somewhere more natural.)

You can also think of the things you do that might be a negative effect, and work on changing those. When I think of the "point" of my life, efficiency factors in. Did I give back more than I took? Even if I fell like I am not being productive, I can work on consuming less.

Visit a Buddhist monastery or go on a meditation retreat.

Like you want to do something new, right?

If seeking the ultimate entertainment / satisfaction isn't working the way you're currently doing it, try the OTHER direction.

Really, the very worst which can happen is you'll be bored. Which is like, no worse than now, right? .

Side note: A nice thing about visiting Buddhist Monasteries, is they are free, priceless. No money need be paid. You go there, sleep there, eat there, all free - in a western monastery the accommodation and food may even be very good!
If they want money, you need to find a better monastery!
But meditation retreats usually cost money, although even then they'll let you do it for free if you have genuine need .
Experience what freedom really is .

                        PM me if you're interested.

Blake, is there a question or problem to which you would give an answer other than "explore Buddhism?"

                              Questions which aren't really important.

In life, there's a thousand forces sending the same message:
                              COMPETE COMPETE COMPETE

Our bodies send that message, they are evolved to.
Consumerism/capitalism sends that message, that is it's foundation. At every level of society, this message pervades.

You can go through life, hearing only these thousands of voices saying "More more more!!! Compete compete compete!!!"

The forces which give the other side, are so very rare. The gentler voices which says things like:
"Hey, what you have now, that is actually enough"

After spending a lifetime listening to one side blaring from the megaphones, isn't it only fair to listen to the other side for a bit?

After all, if the MORE MORE MORE COMPETE COMPETE COMPETE message was so obviously true, then it wouldn't need to be spammed so much so loudly. If it was obviously the best way, then the world wouldn't be in a sorry state of affairs with so much conflict and misery.

I'm not even saying that the "This is enough" message is correct, just, that after hearing only one side all your life, it may be time to hear the other side. For one, it's simply enjoyable to hear something new, instead of the same old message on infinite loop. And the other aspect, get both sides of the picture and make up your own mind. Don't judge from a position of ignorance.

But the other voice... it's not going to take the LOUDER LOUDER LOUDER approach to being heard, it's not going to come along and force itself on you. So... you have to make the effort for yourself, if you want to hear it.
