Wasn't it that dude from Team America after the big explosion?
All the talk about killing brown people got him all choked up, so he wanted to put his hero up for an avatar.

Jim Jones' mass suicide was not caused by any religion. Jonestown was about communism, drugs, repressed homosexuality/homophobia, racism and, of course insanity, not religion. Similarly you can't blame manifest destiny on Christianity with a straight face. There is a relationship between Christianity and those conflicts but it isn't entirely causal.
The Christian message is one thing: what people proclaiming to follow Christ's teachings do in quite another.
Wiggy is a great example of the difference.

The only difference between Jones' cult and other religions is that he had fewer followers. All religions start out crazy and have to moderate themselves to become socially acceptable on a large scale. Mormonism is probably the best contemporary example.
Christianity is daft anyway. What other religion tries to get you to believe that three things are substantially the same as one thing (although this did lead medieval philosophers to propose many interesting theories about the nature of identity). At least Judaism and Islam have some intellectual credibility.

Team America? Of course! I've been thinking it was some relative of that murderous animated doll, Chuckie or whatshisname.
Also, last time I saw a forum thread with a similar name, it led to an endless chain of threads across many forums, each promising to tell me something about gullibility.

Religion transcends politics.
"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
Ben Kenobi: "That means I'm doing something right. "
Kid: Thank you for stating the obvious after somebody has already stated the obvious. All while missing the point.
