John Ashcroft. I shared a stateroom with his son on the ship, he came to all the homecomings and dependant cruises. In one instance I remember I went into the wardroom one moring after a long watch for breakfast. I asked him to pass the butter without realizing who he was (you are not very observent after the 2-7) and my Captain glared at me. I couldn't figure out what was wrong until I was finished and recognized him.

I still would have asked him to pass the butter

          I can't think of any.

Apparently, I could've met (or seen up close, anyway) Robinson Cano (Yankees second baseman) today. I'm a fan. But I didn't go downstairs to bother him. I'm not really into celebrity, and does Robinson really need another fan gawking at him (not that I really gawk, but anyway)? No.

                      Lancer is the most famous.

I was at a Christmas Party with George "Sulu" Takai.

Decades ago, I worked at UCLA Parking Service and lots of celebrities came to my booth. James Garner was the coolest Audrey Meadows was an obnoxious witch For awhile Heather Locklear's brother worked with me -- but I never met her. Lance Ito worked there too.

Rodney Dangerfield was a member of my gym...and yes, he talked that way in real life.

I met Katzenberg, Eisner, and Art Buckwald during the Buckwald v. Paramount Pictures trial.

I almost knew Bill Walton. He moved onto my dorm floor the year I moved out. Later, when we had a reunion, he was set to come but bailed at the last minute.

I met Gray Davis when he was on jury duty (how far the mighty have fallen). I know Calif. Chief Justice George + lots of state sentators, assembly persons, etc. I chatted with Jerry Brown when he was running for the nomination for Calif. Atty General.

Yeah, it was pretty surreal. It was after a Lenny Kravitz concert that he opened for (along with ozomatli) and we bumped into him and his girlfriend from cibbo matto, I forget the name.

Really cool time. just saying hey, and great concert.

I'm really kicking myself, I had the chance to meet Dan Bejar of the New Pornographers and Destroyer a few weeks ago after a concert, he was hanging around and I didn't have the courage to go up and say hey, great show. wimp.
