Dunno of this protectionism of scientology by the US government has changed during the years.

Congratulations on being the vanguard of the atheist inquisition.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. True. Scientology is for morons but I don't have to like Scientology just because its followers are morons.

The South Park episode about Scientology is great.

I just find it silly to protest/picket Scientology. Let people make their own choice on whether they want to join a cult or not.

What's next... picketing the Catholic Church or some other religion. Some might argue that they are just cults as well... brainwashing people with unbelievable and unprovable fantasies... taking their money...

While I must admit that Scientology has making money down to a science... who's really to say they are any worse than other religion. That's up to the individual.

Frankly, you get what you deserve, and if you want scientology... fine by me. It's not like they are a "hate" cult. If you are stupid enough to want to join, go ahead.

It's in the nature of these folks to want to suppress rival religions, Ming. Par for the course.

They're trying to make it an informed choice.

Anybody that wants to find out about the different opinions on Scientology just needs to do a google search. If you are going to join an orginazation without first checking them out, you're a moron.

Well, many here simply don't see scientology as religion, rather as a money making machine using "religion" only for a better image.

It has all the standard elements that most religions have. It's as much a religion as any of the other big ones. You can argue all you want, but the facts are the facts.

Now, if you want to see them as sleazier or more greedy... fine by me, because I think they are as well.

You've got to look at it like the Germans, Ming. They don't want to support Scientology, and the German state collects tax money in support of religion, so... Therefore, Scientology is not a religion.

                            Neat how this works!

Well, there are several texts/orxders from scientology that contain specifically passages to gain control in a state, and also text that tell scientologists to use every means available to suppress critics (including blackmailing, brute force and the like).
Dunno if any other religion works with these principles, but IMHO this makes them clearly an anti constitutional organization

Also i don´t know if an organization that demands from its followers to:
                              Make money
                              Make more money
                              Make still more money

really has the right to call itself religion

And therefore you're a bad person if you try to help a moron not make a dumb choice?
