I thought you didn't want him before a military court. Especially on such a weak case. I agreed that he shouldn't be before a military court at least on the stated charge. What more do you want?Originally posted by Wezil

That seems to be an understatement. The only one in the family worth anything at all if reports are correct is: Abdurahman Khadr.b/c Khadr is not a nice guy?I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara

So he should simply be executed for being a non state combatant parading as a civilian, as per the GC, then? I am fine with that, no need to execute him for the wrong reasons."The DPRK is still in a state of war with the U.S. It's called a black out." - Che explaining why orbital nightime pictures of NK show few lights. I don't expect you to care about Khadr or his family but eventually you will need to realise your nation is a very long way from your stated ideals.

Hey, only reason he wasn't wearing a proper identification by GC, was that his beard wasn't yet growing enough.

Shooting people in the back is within our stated ideals? Torture also?it sounds like your understanding of those stated ideals is a long way from those stated ideals
I strongly disagree with our policy of spreading democracy. Freedom should be taken by the oppressed people of a state by force, not given. If the iraqis want to be free, they will have to earn it. The tyranny of democracy is when you are not free to be undemocratic...if you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it

If he's trying to escape or to attack other soldiers in front of him, why wouldn't it be? Isn't the purpose of warfare to kill the enemy?Originally posted by Kataphraktoi

Which I assumed had to relate somehow to the OP. torture is not mentioned in the OP. Shooting a non state combatant posing as a civilian in the back is in the OP but I don't know which of our stated ideals that is supposed to conflict with.I don't expect you to care about Khadr or his family but eventually you will need to realise your nation is a very long way from your stated ideals.

Wezil was talking about the hidden witness statement. I don't think he actually cares that an AQ member was shot in the back.I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara

Come on Geronimo. Fundamental justice isn't that hard to grasp. Now explain how supression of evidence plays into that.Originally posted by Geronimo

Correct. The shooting in the back certainly raises questions but it is not my issue here.Originally posted by DinoDoc

Not really, he had already thown his hand grenade. Time to run back to the village and hide behind women and children.

Suppressing of evidence is SOP in military operations. They probably didn't want their buddies jailed for the sake of terrorist insurgents who tried to kill them. I save my indignation for when suppression of evidence occurs in the civilian world. Those poor grunts are out in the lovely dystopia that is war and I choose not to judge them by the standards I'd hold a stateside cop to.Originally posted by Wezil

He wasn't running anywhere. IIRC the statement claims he was on his knees facing a wall. This was a walled compound after all.Originally posted by Patroklos

Geronimo - Are the trials at Gitmo to be following due process or not? The supression wasn't to benefit a US soldier(s) it was to help the US government gain a conviction. This doesn't concern you?"I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow
