No it isn't. But it's a commonly used tactic to work towards the objectives

Geronimo - Are the trials at Gitmo to be following due process or not? The supression wasn't to benefit a US soldier(s) it was to help the US government gain a conviction. This doesn't concern you?
the suppression you're talking about is the classification of a debriefing that the report paraphrases as:
'The unidentified soldier says he killed the first al-Qaeda fighter before spotting Khadr, whom he said was wounded, on his knees and facing away from him. For reasons he does not go into, he says he shot him in the back twice."
I imagine the debriefing was obtained with the assurance it would not be used in a courtroom. The debriefing apparently fails to exonerate Khadr anyway. I'd like to see a conviction but I think it would have been better if the soldier who shot Khadr in the back had better aim. If I have any complaint at all it's that the government isn't allowing them to summarily execute these bastards as is allowed under the GC. The trial is a farce no matter how it is handled so....meh.
The statement raises reasonable doubt. No one saw Khadr throw the grenade and we now find out he was not the only one left alive inside. Will it exonerate him in front of this court? Probably not b/c justice simply isn't a goal of the exercise despite US claims to the contrary.

You don't think it would be justice to execute him just for taking part in the attack? The goal is to do whatever is in their power to make sure this guy isn't allowed to walk free. He's probably only alive because they thought they might get some intel from him and now they don't want any of his future actions on their conscience.
I fully understand your position. You favour summary execution for Khadr and his type. That may be what the shooting in the back was all about.
I get that but you are at odds with your governments stated position. They are pretending to exercise this grand scheme whereby the guilt of the Gitmo residents will be proven using due process while in actuality the opposite is true. It's a crock of **** of course and apparent to most people outside of the white house.

For completely different reasons we may indeed both agree that these trials are pointless or a farce. I am indeed sick of this president and his administration trying to play spin image on everything by any means necessary. They should save that sort of crap for their press conferences rather than enacting policies purely designed obfuscate their actions.
Then I think you are understanding what I am saying here. I'm not an anti-US Canadian as many Cdns are. It's a sport in some circles. It's not a game I've ever found fashionable however the administration you currently have has been an absolute disaster wrt foreign relations in large part b/c their actions in no way match their rhetoric. People will/can only eat **** for so long before they gag.
Yes, we agree the Gitmo process is a farce for different reasons. Quite frankly I don't see the allegation against Khadr as a crime (even if true). He had more right to be there than the marine he allegedly killed. An invading soldier being killed in armed conflict sounds like war to me. The wrongful death lawsuit against the Khadr family is absolutely laughable and can only succeed in a US court. I could go into the US penchant for litigation but I won't.

That would be a different rant. I'm good for today.

I would assist, but I have already filled my ranting quota.
While I am very forgiving of soldiers/police/etc. who kill someone while violently engaged, two bullet holes in the back does merit an investigation. This trial, however, will provide no justice.
I cannot possibly evaluate the importance of secrets that are never told, but I find it hard to believe that Guantanamo could be worth the grave concern of America's allies and the burning hatred of it's enemies.

Normally to make the other side give in to your demands and accept your policy.
Only ethnic cleansing Saddam & Slobodan dictator types make war to "kill the enemy".
