I am pretty sure the person who came up with that was a pagan. See how religion stiffles science.

      • I never knew the scientific method was necessary to discover basic arithmetic. Which cave wall in southern France did the scientists publish their results to?

It's rather like having people say that the Sun orbits the Earth. That would be fine for the comedy value if there weren't so many of them .

Well, I get annoyed, because I think there are very legitimate reasons to teach evolution but not Creationism (at least in science class or as a scientific alternative for evolution).

If you don't know the difference between mathematics and the sciences, and the different assumptions that go into each... as well as the different methods... then yes, you don't know what you are talking about.

                      • I don't feel that being a scientist and a believer are conflicting at all. I think those that can't see how this is possible only look for God in the Gaps and don't realize that He is everything, including all that knowledge and space between the Gaps. God created man to rule over our world and has given us the tools (our brains and ability to reason) to do so. The Gaps are only evidence of God, and appear as his challenge to us. We are to fill the Gaps, and when we do so there will be more, and we will learn to rule over more of our world.

Alarmist, yeah. But I understand the concern.

After all, if it's OK for religious types to force their views into public science classrooms, surely it's OK for scientists to do the same in churches, right? Quid pro quo?
No because churches and sunday school are not public institutions funded by tax dollars, public schools are. Further more there is no law that compels people to attend church services or sunday classes where as children under a certain age have to attend public school unless their parents can afford private school or if it is legal in their area to home school.

I dont believe in teaching intelligent design in a science class either. Whats next, the "science" of "An Incovenient Truth"? OTOH, I dont mind it's being mentioned as a possible alternative that the students could examine on thier own time (for example) or could compare to the theory of evolution.
