Top PS3 exclusives have been released in Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted -- the titles from Sony's premiere studios. They bombed.

MGS4 is coming out this year some time, but I don't see why it would be a big hitter. MGS2 was huge, but MGS3 sales were way down on a userbase FAR larger than the PS3's.

That's just an example - better games will come for sure as the console beds down. And Blu-Ray being seen as the key format going forward can only help.

Looks like there was some kind of financial incentive after all. Warner has clearly entered into an agreement with the Bluray group that would delay all new release HD DVDs 3 weeks until they stop releasing HD DVDs.

I'm trying to feel bad about that tactic.

          Really, I am.

But I figure it's time for Sony to at least win one format war where it's backing one of them...

So what? HD DVD paid 150m to Paramount, seems they couldn't open up the checkbook quite far enough this time to keep warner and fox.

                What's good for the goose...

Where is your evidence? I want to know your motivation, for always insisting that when you are wrong, it is because of an exclusivity deal. Your tactic is fooling no one.

Because Warner has released more HD DVD than Bluray. Because HD DVD manufacturing and design tools are more mature. Because no catalog (read: old, non-important movies) are affected, only recent big movies. Because the DVD and Bluray are both on time while the HD DVDs are delayed, even though Warner has always released them same date or HD DVD earlier (for example, The Matrix since BDJ still isn't robust enough while HDi was)

Say, you people seem to be knowledgeable. Which would be the best choice of these newfangled formats to compliment my 20-year old Grundig?
I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

I'm no expert but unless you are a habitual early adopter I'd say neither. DVD is the format you want - simple, cheap and effective. And you probably already have a player.

To see an improvement from HD you need a large screen and/or close viewing distance. I doubt you'd see an improvement on your old Grundig.
