That's certainly how I expect(ed) it to end.

        You wanted an explanation.

Because you're a sociopath who engages in dishonest argument, including ridiculous distortions of fact and simply making things up when it suits you. In addition, your bloated ego simply cannot stand it when people disagree with you, so you stalk them around the boards posting irrelevant and needlessly provocative **** in an attempt to get a reaction, and as an expression of your deeply unpleasant and twisted personality. Deep down, you're really just a *****.

To top it all off, you are a racist who thinks it is appropriate to follow a member around the boards and make continual anti-semitic personal attacks. Sure, LOTM can sometimes seem like a character from a Woody Allen film, but he doesn't deserve to be the subject of such racist harassment.

Why do you think I ignore you? It's because I think you're an insane twit, and while you may occasionally have something to contribute, the signal to noise ratio is so low that it just isn't worth it.

This is I think the 12th blatantly ban-worthy personal attack I've seen from you against me within 24 hours. I hope the mods finally take you to task for your dishonest argument.

Second, I'm not making things up. Here you are in a thread making things up when it suits you -- namely that I predicted HD DVD would clearly win. Then you go on and call me a sociopath that engages in dishonest argument. That's amazing.

Who am I stalking, and WTF are you talking about? You've made this up before, that I stalked LOTM which simply wasn't the case. I'm the most prolific OTF poster by post count, I end up in a lot of threads. LOTM ends up in some of the same threads. I in no way stalked him, and in fact this is just another example of you "making things up" and engaging in dishonest argument where you constantly attack the poster and not the argument.

That "admission" was followed by a wink and was a joke. Clearly so, one would hope -- but apparently not to all. As for politeness and understanding, you're one to talk. I admit I'm not the most polite person, but that's not a crime and you're far from polite yourself.

To top it all off, you are a racist who thinks it is appropriate to follow a member around the boards and make continual anti-semitic personal attacks.
I am absolutely NOT a racist and I've not made ONE anti-semitic remark. Go find ONE instance of it if you are making this claim.

Sure, LOTM can sometimes seem like a character from a Woody Allen film, but he doesn't deserve to be the subject of such racist harassment.
It's NOT racism. I freely admit it agitates me to no end that LOTM has a very bad habit of trying to threadjack a lot of threads into judaism discussions. That's not racism. If Spec had a bad habit of turning many threads into discussions of the RX-7, that'd annoy me also (and I own a Mazda). That's not racism.

Maybe you should look up where the name "Asher" comes from, why would an anti-semite use such a name?

I am absolutely not a racist, nor anti-semite, and I'm appalled at your continual attempts to make things up and personally attack me. Frankly, the admin should ban you for a good, long time for your behaviour in this thread and the one in the Tech forum where you have a long history of making things up and very, very personal attacks.

I always liked HD better then Blueray. At least Blueray still has the porn producers.

              Back on topic...

Right on cue, Sony raised the price of their entry level player from $299 to $399.

              Boo to Warner...

Since Paramount and Dreamworks decided back in august to only publish in the HD DVD format and not support bluray at all why is this announcement by WB any more significant?

It would seem that some content providers are choosing Bluray and others are choosing HD DVD but it doesn't look as if WB decision necessarily predicts the direction others will go any more than paramount and dreamworks decision did.

It's a good thing I read the thread past this contribution, because farther down you said Sony's cheapest standalone Blu-ray player just went from $299 to $399 in the wake of the Warner announcement.

Hmm. If so, that makes the player the same price as the 40GB PS3 ... if a consumer were smart (and hellbent on getting Blu-ray), then it'd probably make more sense to pick up a 40GB PS3. Not only does one get the player, but a game machine as well (along with various other goodies).

Regarding the original point, though, I think the fact that Sony based the PS3 around a Blu-ray drive was at least one key factor in helping the format gain market penetration. And, it looks like Microsoft might have been considering bundling an HD-DVD player with the 360 Ultimate, a rumored release that's coing up for, what, this fall? They should've done this from the very beginning, IMHO.

Oh, well. It'll be interesting to see how things shake out. I just want this stupid format war to come to an end. I'm still using tapes, and want to upgrade to high-def discs!

With the Warner decision, I think the studio split is now two for HD-DVD and four for Blu-ray. The bigger thing, though, is the actual content split ... from what I've read, the studios backing Blu-ray have roughly 70 percent of the content market while the HD-DVD backers have the remaining 30 percent.

On a related note, New Line is also going Blu-ray exclusive. That means Lord of the Rings is going to be a Blu-ray exclusive. I think that's a pretty big deal, considering the business LofR did in the theaters (those movies were awesome!)

Porn helped decide the betamax vs vhs battle and I'm sure it will be a major factor this time with blu-ray and hd-dvd.

I don't believe this is true anymore, not with the internet. People download their porn nowadays (using legal or illegal means).

Nah. Most people get their porn from internet sites these days.

From what I saw on the news Warner backing blu-ray will give them 75% of the available movies on their format.

You're probably right, but it still remains to be seen how much it will affect sales.

Does anyone have any recent sales figures of blu vs hd?
