Alright, then I want to play GTA4 and then watch a Blueray movie.

      Also doesn't exist.

        There's no Blueray movies?

The rumor I heard is that this month apple would announce that blue-ray would be shipping with some of it's machines.

That would not surprise me at all.

MS was also supposed to announce a new 360 SKU with integrated HD DVD. I wonder if that'll happen now.

Do XBox games come on HD DVD?

I think that XBox is by far winning the consol war versus playstation this roungh, btw.

No, games will always come out on DVD for the 360 only.

That's a weakness... but what really counts is the games and 360 has that.

Is it a weakness? If it had HD DVD standard it'd have come out a year later at a higher price tag. Just like the PS3.

I think we can see what the right decision was.

There's dedicated Bluray players for the same price. I don't see this impacting that much.
Actually, you can get a stand alone much cheaper, depending on the deal of the moment, but you know that.

If this happened last year at this time, and the ps3 was still the cheapest blu ray, then it would have been much more beneficial to the ps3. As it is, there are now cheaper options out there than the non backwards compatible ps3, especially if free bd's beyond the mail in rebate are thrown in.

This week, (or last week, I forget), best buy will throw in 5 free bdisks in store under 35$ with purchase of any bluray player, the cheapest being a 400$ sony. Not applicable to the ps3 unfortunately. If deals like that are on the table, I don't see the ps3 benefiting to any great degree.

Asher used to claim HD DVD was the clear winner and Blu Ray was dead.

Never claimed that at all. I said I preferred HD DVD and it makes more sense, which was true and still is true.

Bluray looks like it won simply because the PS3 pushed it into more living rooms faster. Sony lost billions of dollars and their dominant position in the gaming market to "win" this war.

I read Toshiba's press release. They sound a little annoyed.

TOKYO, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba is quite surprised by Warner
Bros.' decision to abandon HD DVD in favor of Blu-ray, despite the fact
that there are various contracts in place between our companies concerning
the support of HD DVD. As central members of the DVD Forum, we have long
maintained a close partnership with Warner Bros. We worked closely together
to help standardize the first-generation DVD format as well as to define
and shape HD DVD as its next-generation successor.

We were particularly disappointed that this decision was made in spite
of the significant momentum HD DVD has gained in the US market as well as
other regions in 2007. HD DVD players and PCs have outsold Blu-ray in the
                              US market in 2007.

We will assess the potential impact of this announcement with the other
HD DVD partner companies and evaluate potential next steps. We remain firm
in our belief that HD DVD is the format best suited to the wants and needs
                              of the consumer.

I will be disappointed if Blu-ray wins. I've got the Xbox 360 HD-DVD player, and a handful of HD-DVDs (I get most through Netflix) and really don't think Blu-ray provides any clear benefit over HD-DVD, other than Blu-ray discs can hold more GB, but there are HD-DVDs in development that could hold just as much, if not more. On top of that, HD-DVD is Region-free, had a standard players must meet from the start, etc.

But the format war is not over yet. HD-DVD players are still cheaper, and will only drop as China produces more CH-DVD players and discs.

Nobody has answered the most important question yet.

Is the porn industry sticking to HD-DVD?
