Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

        WTF is Germany?
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Never heard of it. But my Atlas does mention West Germany.

I still want to know why there is chunks of pig in my chocolate. Austrians, I need answers!

Zotter has great artisan chocolates. They also have some that seem odd or even unacceptable at first, but turn out to be good; then again, a few are simply abominable. They have hundreds of varieties.

Honestly, I don't know. The only reason I can imagine is to upset muslims.

(Which surely isn't the case. Zotter uses fair trade chocolate and supports social programs, so I doubt he'd engage in islamophobia).

It is amazing how secular Europe is/seems compared to the United States but yet how intertwined church & state still are.

Stores in Australia used to be closed on Sundays as well, roughly two decades ago. It was good in one way - the massive carparks would be empty, so us kids could ride bikes and drive remote-controlled cars around.

I much prefer them open every day now, of course.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Well, America is the ultimate capitalist state so it's no wonder that the church lost out to money...

Here's a great hypocrisy related question?

How many of you Christian Believers-in-God types in the US believe that the shop laws should be tighted to prevent them from opening on Sundays? None?

Not me. I would bet that you aren't going to find any American believers here (or Ben) who would support such a law.
