    • Dude, I'm a doctor. I know how we eat. If I make it to 90, I'll eat my hat. Or Depends, as the case may be.

      • I KNOW YOU'RE A DOCTOR!
I guess dementia is still a possibility in the field. Evidently it is.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

It's always easier to tell others what is good for them than to do it yourself. I should know.

          Another obit for the thread.

Bob Spiers, whose death at the age of 63 was announced by the BBC on 8 December, 2008, was a BAFTA-winning director whose credits read like a history of British comedy from the 1970s onwards.

He directed, among others, the classic series Fawlty Towers (six episodes in 1979), Are You Being Served? (13 episodes, 1977-83), Bottom (six episodes, 1995) and Absolutely Fabulous (23 episodes, 1992-2001).

As well as sitcoms he directed sketch shows including The Goodies (1977-82), French and Saunders (9 episodes, 1988-93) and A Bit of Fry and Laurie (7 episodes, 1995), plus the Fast Show's 1998 live show and the Spice Girls' movie Spice World (1997).

Born in Glasgow in 1945, Mr Spiers joined the BBC in the 1960s and worked his way up from floor manager to become one of the corporations' leading directors.

After directing, and winning a BAFTA for, the second series of Fawlty Towers in 1979, he went freelance, allowing him to work on such projects as The Comic Strip Presents... (8 episodes, 1982-1988) for Channel 4 and Press Gang (23 episodes, 1989-1993) for ITV, one of several shows on which he worked with Steven Moffat.

embalmer42 may have to go into mourning over this one.

                  • Yeah, we should get started. It's certainly not too late. Heck, everyone's lists are at least 75% complete already...

                      Someone needs to organise it.

                      • OK, so not Wezil, apparently. Too bad. You've done a great job keeping up with this, dude.

Probably makes sense to use a "you caught it, you clean it" approach. Since I'm the leader in the clubhouse (and extending that lead with another unique pick today), I'll volunteer to take the reins for the 2009 version. Expect a sign-up thread soonishly.

Wezil, if there are any resources not part of this thread, please make me aware.

In the meantime, folks should start preparing their lists.

                            • I've figured out why I've done so poorly - there was simply no incentive for me to win. Now, if a prize had been offered, there would not be quite so many happy people still left on my list......

                              • Sammy Baugh has made his final forward pass.

-Jrabbit (8) was the only player to choose Sammy Baugh.

                                Sammy was 94.

-Jrabbit scores the 25 point Unique Pick Award.

                                -Jrabbit -> 163 + 6 + 25 = 194 points
