  • Political commentary and "Boston Legal"

Maybe you don't like the show or don't watch but in almost every episode they take a shot at some topical issue or another, usually through those wonderful " on television shows only " cross examinations.

    Carl Sack and Katie Lloyd defend the firm against a client who claims Denny Crane misled them about the environmental friendliness of the Crane Poole and Schmidt offices. Meanwhile, Alan Shore takes on a bank when the lending institution threatens to foreclose on Clarence Bell's home;
So in one show they hit on the sub-prime crises and global warming. The cross-exam of of teh leader of " Green People" was priceless-- Among things they raised

    - Bottled water is terrible for the environment ( his current lawyer was drinking some
--Hybrid cars may be worse than Hummers (nickel extraction and long transportation of their batteries PLUS people tend to drive more)
WALKING is bad for the environment-- Increases people's caloric needs and triggers more consumption

    Eating meat is bad

    etc etc

You get the point-- Whether any of it is true is not relevant -- it was funny as heck

So what show do you like that hits some current issues?

"Boston Legal" is one of the few shows I watch.

I like it too but the only issue it deals with seems to be men's constant quest to get in the pants of women and the problems that ensue

You must not get it on the same level as I.

If eating meat is bad, then call me Satan.

I caught a little of a recent episode. It's good they have Shatner. But the characters I saw didn't interest me.

It was one of the few shows I watched before cancelling cable years ago.

It certainly wasn't worth keeping the cable.

I also like "Saving Grace". Those 2 and "Soprano's", in repeat on A&E, are really all I watch.

It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

Soprano's on DVD. I'm told A&E cuts the **** out of them to the point of accidental humour.

I don't like fake lawyer shows. The only Law show I watch is Law and Order, and even that is sometimes unbelieveable.

Also, any show that says walking is bad for the environment is moronic.
