      1.25 billion Galaxies x 200 million stars =2.5x10^17 stars

      1 grain of sand = 1 mm^3?

      2.5x10^17 mm^3 of sand= 250 million m^3 sand

average depth of sand covered surface on earth: 10 m?

surface covered by sand in that case: 25 million m^2= 25 km^2

      More sand than stars

Well since all the sand used to be stars, then there is a lot more starstuff around than sand

            Surface of the Sahara:
            9 million km^2 (Wikipedia)
            Average depth: 1 m
            = 9000 km^3 of sand or 9000 billion m^3

grain of sand: 1mm^3 --> 1 billion grains of sand in 1 m^3

--> grains of sand in the sahara alone : 9000 billion x billion

(and I further assume the average depth is a bit more then 1 m, and a grain of sand is actually less then 1 mm^3, so the above is a conservative estimate)

You assume too much yourself. There are degrees of fineness. Kind of like sand paper. You know that stuff?

I thought the estimated number of stars in the known universe was much greater than that anyway...10^22?

Is there someone who says the cosmos is infinite? That does not sit too well with the idea of a big bang.

Well there's the Texan opinion. Anyone have a scientific opinion on the Big Bang?
